editing guitars on cubase

hey i've just been reading these forums for a few months now, and its come to the time to wondering how to edit guitars / glueing to make them sound alot tighter, eg on palm mutes, maybe abit of feedback, ya know. i've tried searching along for tutorials daw = cubase 5

anyhelp / direction to chuck me in would be sweet thanks!

Waiting for a good take of lame guitar player often takes much longer then slipping the di track in position!

got it now its quite handy really.
what about automation? such as the reserve reverb sortve technique?
do you insert a seperate fx channel? then click verb as the vst effect?
