electric violins?

anyone play/have played an electric violin? im interested in one. specifically the wood ones. though yamaha also has an interesting one. my main concern is that it wont sound authentic, especially the wood because some actually have frets. though the recordings and performances ive heard with the wood violins sound pretty natural.

I have a straus, but i use it with a distortion pedal. You can get it to sound authentic by playing around with the amp settings or getting 'classic' pedal.

Are you happy with it? Is it "whinstling"? I wanna buy one too, but I know almost nothing about electric violins. I've only seen two Yamaha, but I don't really like their shape. I've heard someone playing one and it sounded quite natural, though the sound in that club wasn't really good.
Are multiFX kits working with an acoustic violin?
