Electronic Music Thread

lately i am looking into getting some skinny puppy, killing joke, as well as researching throbbing gristle, whitehouse, and ggfh, but im a newb at this stuff

As far as Skinny Puppy goes, Too Dark Park is fucking superb. I've got Last Rights too and I like it, but I haven't spent nearly as much time with it as I have with Too Dark Park. I've heard that VIVIsectVI is good as well.

is sknny puppy like industrial thrash or what? what do they sound like, is what im asking?

who would win in a showdown, da Puppy or da Joke?

I'm no expert, the s/t (the first s/t that is) is a classic ( has 'the wait' 'wardance' etc)

'extremties...' is really heavy, 'pandemonium' is good, very driving stuff

I really need to the last couple never got round to it
downloading a couple of bits from killingjoke.com now

Boards of Canada are pretty rad.

Pandemonium by Killing Joke reminds me of Swans at times. Awesome album.

I've been listening to Benny Benassi lately lol

Kraftwerk, Sphongle, M83<-- might make a reco thread, very good band
I like electronic Ulver, Architecture in Hesinki is somewhat electronic... Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Atrium Carcerci, Lustmord and probably others. I need to check more out

it seems like M83 has already been discussed. I didn't know they were in a movie though

Yesss, I'm a big fan of EBM - all the way from the harsher stuff to futurepop, '80s shit, power electronics, digital hardcore/grind/noise, triphop, breakcore, goa trance, world dance, ambient, electronica, industrial, darkwave, and glitch. But sadly I don't have enough money to explore all of those in as much depth as I would like; a fair few of the styles I only have stuff by a few bands because I can't afford to buy any more.

I'm with NAD on the FSOL love. If I was in the US I would turn up at his house unannounced with a crate of beer, and refuse to leave until we'd listened to his entire CD collection. That is all.

Been trying to get into them recently...with little success. I'll keep trying though.

The Star Control 2 soundtrack is stellar, by the way, although it might be a little too upbeat for you guys.
