Elend

You said it thrice ; ).I prefer WDM but STD is more challenging and adventurous . I just can't resist to "Worn out With Dreams" or "Away from barren Starts".

This said the samples posted above are the most martial tracks , some are more ambient , and closer to electronica than indus/ambient . In Slaughter Natives remains the indus/ambient master though. (also check Predella avant - Carbon Figures , more symphonic)

Interesting . Although I find the tracks order to be weird and the album very challenging , I appreciate it . This quintology (frenglish?) is holding (2nd) all its promises.

Nope. The band is very quiet informationwise and promoting .. With Elend , what you hope is obvious , they'll keep the sound from both and release something new . Maybe next year , the band composes really quick .

Just out of curiosity, what is your favorite album by the band? I have all of them but the second now and each one is unique, but not radically different. I still like WDM the most, but this one will likely overtake it with repeated listens.

WDM. It's 'obvious' beauty kills me.I like "Les Ténèbres du Dehors" and "The Umbersun" very much. I'm rather a fan of the latter two albums.

I have all albums except "Lecons De Ténèbres". Each album has a different feel to it (maybe not radically different, but still...), so it's kinda hard to pick a favourite for me. Hm.. I'd probably go with "Winds Devouring Men" also, closely followed by "The Umbersun". The latter is out of press btw since Music For Nations has been closed; might take a while until the rights have been assigned anew.

Agreed. The step taken from the Officium trilogy to the Winds-series is brilliant. The band never composed in a more-of-the-same logic, and I'm curious where they'll take us next time.

My favourite has to be "Winds Devouring Men", gooseflesh-machine par excellence. "Les Ténèbres du Dehors" sports a couple flaws if you look at it restospectively, but it still is an incredible album, as well as the one that gave me the first impulse to dig deeper into classical music.

I fucking love Les Ténèbres Du Dehors and The Umbersun. I need to listen to their other stuff but it's hard to listen to the other albums when I like these so much.
