just wondering guys,

has emo type metal become popular in other countries,or is it just the uk that has to suffer with the crap that these bands produce?you know the type, singer screams lots,no discernable hooks, melodies, chorus etc.bands like funeral for a friend as an example.

if you are all lucky, you'll not have a clue what i'm talking about!

Kind of... Killswitch Engage is a perfect example of emoish shit we put up with.

Every other day I see some dumbfuck wearing a KSE shi(r)t with a Slipknot patch on it.

What in hell's name is emo? Gimme a break, let's see: classic, speed/thrash, death/grind, doom, black and power. Did I missed something (and industrial doesn't exist that's dance with overtones).

Killswitch Engage is definitely emo. They even admit it.

Emo is a style of music that, when you get down to it, is focused on being a whiny bitch. Think the soft parts in metalcore bands extended throughout most of a song, with laughable attempts at "heavy" choruses. So yes, we do have that problem in the US, and it's infecting the metal scene by way of metalcore bands like KSE (possibly my least favorite band in the world right now), As I Lay Dying, Avenged Sevenfold, and so on. Bad stuff.

Ah mallcore by another name, why people always complicate info?

The world have a problem with it, luckily the OS new and old guard stands tall to patrol and keep the flame of truth alive :D (epic non-Manowar music in the background  )

Why reply when I'd be repeating Pyrus? Anyways, my most hated band like that is by FAR .... Otep.

The "horribleness" of Otep cannot be described in words but I'll give a fewattempts at describing them:

Whiniest vocals I've EVER heard.... EVER.
Worst riffs ever... next to those of Slipknot.
Crappy drumming.
Most pathetic attempt at intellectual lyrics I've ever heard.
Cliche.

That's it for now.

For some reason out of all these new "metal" bands I kinda like Otep, the "SEVAS TRA" album anyway. Not sure why. However I have not really checked out their lyrics so as far as I know they could be singing about peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.

I actually like one emo band.....im sorry to admit lol.....and thatd be Atreyu....all emo is , is an updated version of Nirvana etc.

I was just gonna type the same thing?
He's obviously NOT a fan, so he's judging
the band from what he's read & or his peers have told him...

Have YOU even listened to their lyrics? Good grief man! I don't like them mostly beCAUSE of their lyrics (among other things).

I hate to echo something close to what Pyrus said, but that's pretty close to what I think of them. They sing a minute long emo section, intercede with a 15 second pseudo-heavy section then repeat that utterly pathetic emo section again until their next 14 second pseudo heavy section. These poor bastards usually write four riffs per song and play them over and over (A slight exaggeration? Maybe, but not by much.)

God I hate that Killswitch Engage song My Last Serenade. My mate used to play it in the car all the time. You can tell which parts when they were writing the song they turned to each other and said "let's make this bit heavy so people will think we're like Slayer" "ok but not too heavy else my mum won't like it". Those silly double-bass drum bits, and the most pointless, inane lyrics I've ever heard. And when they go all 'emotional' :yuk: beggars belief...

All emo sucks and anyone who likes it is a fag! :D

I'm sorry, but I cannot condone Killswitch Engage AT ALL. Their wretched music (which Thraxz pretty much nailed, btw) aside, they EMBRACED the tag "emo metal." Not acceptable. I do not approve.

Metalcore/emo names are hilarious. My friends and I like to make up really ridiculous ones–you know, Crying In the Corner, And The Heavens Shall Rain Bitter Tears of Bitterness, As I Fingered Your Sister, etc.

I never heard any of that stuff, but one KSE song (to know what was the fuzz about). I found it pure noise, like all mallcore.

Sorry people I stick with Saxon and Motorhead ;)
