Alright, kill me, but I find it very enjoyable to listen to some Emo stuff because the production on these records i really great!

I'm reffering to Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, 30 Seconds To Mars and such. Not that I like the vining or the kinda childish lyrics but there's really so much interesting and great sounding stuff going on. I find myself always putting on the cans (Beyerdynamic DT 770 btw) when one of these song comes up on the playlist on one of my radio shows.

Only thing I always wonder about is how these kinda "new" (or young) bands can pay the producers/studios/engineers?? I guess they get a lot of priority at the labels atm...

Anyone with me? :loco:

(Atm there's some acoustic folk rock on air btw. ;) )

Yeah I sort of know what you mean. I saw a video lesson from the guitarist in Fall Out Boy in Total Guitar. The guy's playing is a bit messy, yet it sounds tight on the recordings playing on radios and music video channels.
So good work to the hard working audio engineers and producers making sloppy musicianship sound good!

^That story alone would justify the abandonment of all Emo music - I mean what could you possibly learn guitar-playingwise from the guy in Fall Out Boy... lol

Chris Lord-Alge (mix engineer) - check him out. you will all own records in this style with him as credit without even knowing it.

^I know him and I love his work!

Especially the latest Billy Talent and Rise Against records are great (also in terms of the music itself).

I watch all the videos on the CDs that come with that magazine regardless of who the player is, just because I can. I can assure you I'm not a fan of emo music. But you are correct in saying that you can't learn anything from his playing technique

I didn't mean to hurt your feelings (Oh so Emo lol :D)! ;)
No sorry, I'm just kidding.

I don't read any guitar magazines anymore (switched to the recording stuff ;) ) but if I would (and if DVDs came with it) I sure as hell would watch it too! What I was trying to say is, that someone with an obviously sloppy (let alone innovative or something...) playing style should not be on such a DVD.

Chris Lord-Alge, Tom Lord-Alge, Andy Wallace, Andy Sneap, Rick Rubin, Randy Randy Staub, Bob Rock and Colin Richardson. You cannot go wrong at all! Maybe a sticky?

I feel dirty ever time I listen to Drowning Pool's "Desensitized" but I just have to....hell of a mix by Staub.

Terry Date should also make amy list like that.

Nickelback

Ewwww..:puke:

I sincerely apologise to the entire world on behalf of Canada for the atrocity of Nickelback. (sure the production is great.. but those songs... yech!) Go check out Gorian Roth instead.... an unsigned band from the East Coast. Horrible production, great band, & a truly amazing singer.

And thats my take on that.

This is most of the kind of work I end up getting. I'm still practicing up to maybe becoming something one day. Speaking of My Chemical Romance, I hate that band too, but I've been trying to no avail to get a drum sound similar to The Black Parade. Any advice on that one?
