I'm looking for some EXTREMELY emotive music. I'm talking music that will sweep you away into emotional overload. I want to be swept away. You get the picture.

Some examples:

GY!BE
Empyrium - Weiland
Buckethead - Electric Tears, Colma
Jeff Buckley
Nick Drake - Pink Moon
Radiohead - Kid A, etc
Mono
Sigur Ros

Something beautiful, transcendental, spiritual, ...once again you get the picture.

Eh, a less lazy answer:

Springsteen - Nebraska (dark as fuck)
Billy Bragg/Wilco - Mermaid Avenue
The Smiths - any
Temple of the Dog -s/t
The Sundays - s/t
Neil Young - Harvest
The Cure - Pornography

also I like me some Eagles and Sheryl Crow when want to be carried away.

Damien Rice is REALLY good. Funny that you mention him because I was just listening to "O" album in the car with my girl, on our way home from the fireworks. She is the one who introduced me to him. The chick that sings with him is divine and the use of strings are breathtaking are times.

Beloved (US) - Failure On
Pedro the Lion - Control

^ Screamo and emo, respectively, but without any hint of gayness.

Beloved are too emo for me but they are one of the few bands who know how to write a good song.

Amazing CD. I was listening to this CD this weekend, and it just never ages. If you don't think Cornell is a vocal god, you need to hear this disc.

For those of you who aren't familair with the TotD CD, the disc was inspired by the death of Andrew Wood, frontman of Mother Love Bone. MLB was at the eye of the storm, when all the majors went to Seatle looking for bands to sign. Wood and Cornell were roommates at one time, and very close. TotD consisted of Cornell and Cameron (underrated drummer) of Soundgarden and Stone and Ament of MLB (who later formed Pearl Jam). Many of the songs are about Wood's passing and his struggles with addiction.

If you've never chosen to investigate this CD, because of the whole "Seatle/Grunge is evil" mentality, do yourself a favor and check this out. It doesn't sound like anything else that came out of that scene. It's just great music.
