Emotional Wasteland

i ordered it there tonight (im ashamed to admit i still didnt actually own the album, still like the demos more ;) anyway ive fixed that now). it was 20 euros including shipping from italy to the netherlands. ill let you guys know how long it takes.

it just arrived

it's really odd, it was mellow records all along right? i opened the package, it had a EUR 5,30 poststamp on it, and inside was another package: looks like he bought a cd from his own label (!) from a guy with a russian name who lives in the US. wtf? so there is about 7 euros of shipping in the 20 euros i paid, haha!

hmm there are some brown stains on the back of the booklet :(

by the way, what means "i guess i am his brother in law!" shouldnt it be son in law, i dont understand...

This morning I figured out the lead at the end and some of the guitar parts. The bassline is pretty straightforward. The bitch will obviously be the singing but I think I can figure most of the synth out by cheating with MIDI.

(talking about The Likes of No One here...)

I now have everything but the vocals tracked, but the drums still need some tweaking. I used an organ patch for most of the keys, and I also heavied up the outro, significantly. This song is so cool...

I tried to keep this sort of like the demo version and maintain a raw, sorta dry sound. The demo also has an immense amount of reverb on the drums, so I scaled that back a bit as well...However, there are elements of the Ever Since version in there as well, like the more bouncy Tom Nouga bassline....but the fill near the middle with the drums and bass on the demo version stayed! (love that part) There is also some difference in the instrumentation, namely the organ and the outro. That's where I kind of stepped in to make it sound like something of my own...

I haven't done the vocals yet and am sorta dreading it, cause that will pretty much make or break it. :erk:

But anyway, here's the instrumental version.

Thanks guys!

Listening to this alot has made me realize my strat that I played the leads with needs to be intonated, big time. Hopefully I can auto tune the shitty notes, cause I dig the performance on this version...the drums need more tweaking as well.

I'm going to pull this down until I fix everything else and get the vocals done...
