ENDITOL Album Mix

Sounds like you were very, very busy editing! Takes "staccato' to a whole new level. Guitar tone is a little scooped for my tastes, but that's a very minor gripe. Wonderful job!

With some Axe-FX gate/expander tweaking it edits itself. ;)

Sounds really good Enditol. Agree with the guitars being slightly scooped/overgained. Maybe a mastering issue, or it could be the cymbals/hihat are to bright.

Good job anyway.

Thanks for listening sirs! 'Scooped' and 'Overgained'...these terms are not in my vocabulary.

Here is another cut for your earholes: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/2183128/Hope_Universal_MasterTest_Feb14.mp3

Ah, it's a mastering issue then. ;)

Different preset or different EQ?

Maybe...could also be the synths on that track you aren't liking. Or the saturation on the mastering, 'cooks up' the guitars a bit but I like it overall. Hope is essentially the same setup but a different guitar / pickups.

Music from outer space really :)

What did you use for bass ?

Heheh...Trillian. Great fucking instrument!

This all sounds amazing. Great playing and mixing man.

I always love listening to your stuff. :)

Hit me TMF preset if you're feeling generous.

Awesomeness!!

Holy shit at the guitar playing and how tightly this mixed as well man.. how did you get the guitars like that? (cutting off so tight)

And love the originality of the music as well!

Thanks much! I'd be happy to send you the preset but it may not help you overly since I do a lot of the mixing in Cubase. If there's anything specific you want to know about feel free...

Cheers! I just chopped the ends shorter then usual, manual gate I suppose. Live I would use an extra virgin tight gate for those riffs to get the staccato effect.

Test my "volume block controlled by envelope"-expander/gate I made a while ago. Add the Vol/Pan block as the first after the input. Set the volume controller to envelope. Raise threshold to -40dB, attack 1, release 10-20Ms. No need for editing. ;)

All I can say is....kicks the shit out of Divinity!....no comparison IMO....only other thing I can say is...look out Andy! He might steal some business in the future haha ...lol only kidding of course!!!!

There not much to say except for DAMN. That's one hell of a great sound. Amazing mixing. Sounds like you could put it on a record. Also great songwriting, instrument playing and singing. I better stop now. I started drooling.

Great work

Chris

And no not talking smack about Divinity...I like them too!!!

Thanks I guess! Nah it's cool, this project is my baby, I've been working on it (on and off) for sooooo fucking long, it's nice to finally have it done. One song on the album has some tracks from my old Boss BR-8 recorder, tracked a while before I even knew what the hell Cubase was. :zombie:

This sounds like the lushest and juiciest pair of tits ever observed by any lifeform in the universe. Thumbs up!

That sounds sextacular, thank you!

Thanks Chris, it will hopefully be on a record soon! :heh:

Alright I updated the OP with a new version, pretty close but some tweaks.

I had a little saturation shootout on the master bus, tried out:

- UAD Fatso
- Nebula with R2R and Tape Booster+
- Magneto and Cubase soft clipper

Nebula won out over Fatso on this one! :headbang: Although I still love me some Fatso on some busses. Nebula got the perceived loudness way up with a lot less damage to the balance. Fatso got the volume but added a 'haze' to the mids that wasn't as pleasing as what Nebula did. I used the Studer 30IPS program on Nebula with the Tape Booster adding 2db of further saturation.
