Actually, Maidens of War is a rip-off from an older song of Grave Digger, Scotland United (from Tunes of War)... At least I am pretty sure the riffs are very very similar. And Tunes of War was released in... 1996? 1997?

Anyway, we are talking about a very simple riff, and it might be present in dozens of metal songs.
