hey simon have you ever used the engl e530 direct with the redwirez engl 4x12 impulse? im looking for another preamp to do this kinda thing with. just curious as to how it would sound.

I think you can get quite good results. At least i've heard and saw it. Need to check it out myself

I guess in combination with the redwirez it would be better to use a pre+poweramp because they were created through an amp with a flat frequency response.
I made a comparison Video: e530,built in poweramp,cab, cam sound - built in poweramp, cab, sm57 vs. e530 line out, recabinet. I'll post the link when it's uploaded. A little high gain Playthrough using the built in poweramp, engl xxl w. sm57 will follow
