Engl owners-question

Blasphemy.

Haha, yeah, I know, but by itself it's just WAY too smooth for me, no crunch or bark (just fizz if you crank the presence). Works amazingly for a blend with a crunchier/barkier amp though! And yes, in case anyone asks, I'm not in love with the tone on Heartwork for that reason - flame away! :erk:

That's something I've always loved for live purposes, 'cause I HATE carrying around and setting up this stuff at gigs. Love very simplified rigs..

No need for extra gain at all. I play a powerball and I have it at 50 percent gain on my lead channel and it is more than enough.

Most modern, high-gain amps like Bogner's, Diezel's, and ENGL's just don't need boost pedals because there's a little knob on the side of the amp that controls the, uh, amount of GAIN. WHOA! It's like magic!

TS usage already covered by Marcus, but I had to quote both you guys just to say...

FAIL!

I have a Blackmore and dont like a boost on it. I prefer the amp just by itself...

My friend has my powerball at the moment but ill get it this weekend and do a blind shoot out with some od pedals and without. I personally dont use the boost to tighten the already tight low end i use it to add some shimmer back into the distortion which i find to be pretty sterile without my od808 in front. My preference for putting the od in front is however based on how it sounds in the room iv never compared it under the mic so i am looking forward to doing this shootout.
