unfortunate coincidence...unless, of course, you went to school in japan
Nah, KAH-LEE-FOR-KNEE-AH. [/Schwartzisbigger]

I don't know why, but they turned into fashion whore nu-metal tripe after I bailed, with winner lyrics like:

Nice guys finish last
I want pussy and I want ass

Whoa, totally deep dudes.

Oh yeah since I'm totally killing this thread, why not post an mp3? :D

are you sure those guys weren't 2 Live Crew?

god what morons.

Verse 1: brother marquis
You see, me and my homies like to play this game
We call it amtrak but some call it the train
We all would line up in a single-file line
And take our turns at waxing girls’ behinds
But every time it came to me, I was shit out of luck
Because I’d stick my dick in, and it would get stuck
The girls would say stop! I’d say I’m not!
That’s enough, I quit, ’cause y’all are bustin’ me out!
I say, girls, don’t hide it, just divide it
And please don’t knock it until you’ve tried it
So to all of you bitches and all you hoes
Let’s have group sex and do the rambo!

Chorus

Verse 2: fresh kid ice
I’m the peter piper of the 1980’s
Got a long hard dick for all of the ladies
I don’t care if you got three babies
You can work the sitck in my mercedes
If you wanna blow, just let me know
We can go backstage at the end of the show
I’ll look at you, and you will look at me
With my dick in my hands as you fall to your knees
You know what to do, ’cause I won’t say please
Just nibble on my dick like a rat does cheese!

Chorus

"Let’s have group sex and do the rambo!"

omg I'm going to work this into daily conversation, starting today.

Envy kick ass, I've had a couple of conversations about them on this board!

They are about as emo as emo gets however, there is now way I'd call them post-hardcore. Way ahead of most of the US "emo" bands, but archetypal emo nevertheless..

ADSS has to be my favourite album...

Envy's music is emotional as fuck, agreed, but not as in emo = gay whines + out-of-place screams by she-males with underdeveloped lungs.

Envy's emotion is a blend of raw, uncompromising hardcore and utterly miserable cries of agony. They're one of the straightest way to tears metal can provide, and they rock like there's no tomorrow.

I maintain they are emo, as in emo with gay whines and out-of-place screams ;)

Don't know if you've listened to much emo, but Envy's vocals are pretty much an "average" emo scream, albeit one of the best, and in Japanese, and they have a hell of a lot of whispers and recited verses, just like American emo. Just because the majority of the genre is shite is no reason to divorce a band from it who show so many glaringly obvious characteristics of the style.

Envy is labelled as "Screamo" sometimes . I clearly see the differences between them and other typical emo bands.

Screamo = emo = emo hardcore, at least in the UK. Then there's emo as in 50's glasses and Weezer CDs. The only difference I see between Envy and the majority of US emo bands is the quality, putting the variation you find within any genre aside.

I don't care much for genre quarrels, but I have a problem with the word "emo" , because it connotes someone trying oh so hard to drive artificial melodramatics into their music, while good music is emotional by nature and doesn't need fake enhancement. So it's obvious I'll want to dissociate any band I like from a classification I dislike

Anyway, "All the Footprints you've ever Left..." displays the band's more ambivalent profile with somewhat 'pop'-like structures, whereas "A Dead Sinking Story" is a dry and bleak experience through and through with only few epic eruptions. It's hard to remain focused on the latter for more than a couple tracks, but in the end I think it's their best effort and they'll be hard put going further.

I'm not a fan of them either - in fact, this is about the only one I ever get into. It just irritates me that all metalheads automatically disassociate pure emo and hardcore bands with the genre they play just because of their own preconceptions and stereotypes. But, seeing you admit that's what you're doing, back to the discusssion in hand, Envy :dopey: You can definitely see the development from Footprints... to ADSS, I can't wait to hear their next album. I'm not as fond os Footprints, it just never clicked with me like ADSS. No idea why :)

*cough*

mp3 would be nice

*HAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK*

cue someone saying "NAD I burned you a CD-R of these dudes 6 months ago!" :loco:

Yeah I owe you and lizard some stuff. I have a list at home, but let me know anything you want and I promise to burn it this weekend. :kickass:
