Just got a thomann leeter with their hot deals and stuff in it and I saw this

http://www.thomann.de/ie/epiphone_socal50.htm

Never heard of it before but it looks metal orientated and is designed by Soldano, anyone ever used one or heard anything about it? I just got an influx of cash for my 21st birthday and this is kinda tempting me a little

NO... I brought one. BAAAAD amp for metal. Doesnt look it, but the gain is horrible and theres fuck all off it.

Nice clean though haha

Joe

edit... Mine also broke after 2 or 3 months and didn't come with warranty or anything... then the company that I brought it off (sound control) went bust so I was left with nothing.... as you can tell I'm pretty bitter towoards this thing.

yeah I looked up the Harmony central reviews, which are usually tainted by new buyers not wanting to admit their new toy isn't great, and even they didn't paint a great picture

You can have my old one for £100 when its repaired if you want. lol

The bass is really spongy and it sounds so flat because the budget means it has a POS transformer. I think they probably marketed this amp to the wrong people because it looks metal, but it really isn't. It may be cool if blues is how you role.

Joe

From what it says in Thomman I understand the reverb is the only thing designed by soldano, right?

Grainger? haha thats the one I got... POS!!

Much better saving for a krank rev Jr or a Tiny Terror.

Joe

yeah I just saw it and was curious about it, definately won't be plugging for one- doesn't even have an effects loop to just use the power section!

The name itself should tell you it wouldn't be good for metal. SoCal tells me surf time, not metal chugga chugga time.
