could anybody post me a picture of a visual eq of how guitars should look? in a good mix,

iv been told drag all the lows an top highs out of it but to me it makes it sound a little strange. could anybody help me out

Not every body uses the same equipment. Guitars, amps, other stuff used in guitar recording/tone is different. Because of this there is no exact eq that should be used. The things that you have said about pulling out the lows and a bit of highs is right in most cases, but it all depends on the dry recorded guitar. You need to try to listen to the actual tone to decide what needs to be taken out and what it is lacking. Hope this helps.

P.S. You can get a spectrum analyzer and put that on your guitar tracks - this will show you where certain frequencies peak, which may help you in deciding what needs to be done with the eq.

EDIT: This thread belongs in production tips :)
