Alright, so just a very short excerpt so far. I spent about 7 hours editing this song (after it was already largely edited) and about another 2 setting out the session (over 100 tracks), and then another 2 compiling custom Kick and Snare samples to use.

Now this didn't leave a lot of time for the mix, so I just put something together. It doesn't quite 'punch' enough for me yet, and the low-end obviously needs refinement, but you kind of get the idea.

This is taken directly out of the mix, unfinished and in its raw form, so to speak. Also, no rhythm guitars because they sound poo and I'm trying to get the band to re-track.

That snare isn't cutting it :/ if you're wanting something on the levels of the pros anyway. Also sometimes the different samples play at different times and the attack gets cut.

Rest is good I guess but kinda hard to say without the guitars.

What'd you use for overheads? The cymbals sound incredible, especially the hihat!

I don't know what you mean about the different samples playing back at different times. They were all unified into a single file for the mix, and fire together.

I understand if you mean the snare is not processed enough though. There is still a little way to go.

No idea what was used on the OHs. It was tracked at Salt Studios, and I wasn't there.

By the way, you can hear their previous 'final' version of the song here: http://www.myspace.com/sparkiris

I believe it was the 2nd mix and master of that CD. What I'm doing is the 3rd, hah.
