Our bassist is looking for a bass that works well with modern rock. Is this the bass he should be looking at for studio and touring? I believe he found a good deal on one with maple fretboard and a single Humbucker.

Anyone have experience with stingrays? Thoughts?

I love them, but they have a pretty special sound to them, can work really well, but it depends on the case,
got the feeling that a few guys on here dislike them, but I just like Stingrays (own one-so I should like it :D )
If he got a offer, just go for it, if you dislike it, you can sell it for the same price ;)

work well on their own but hard to place in a mix due to the clanky top end.
Fender jazz works much better IMHO

As they say about Stingrays

Pros : Sounds like a Stingray
Cons : Sounds Like a Stingray
