Of course, tuner... but what is the standard dirt/'amp' tool for bass? I was considering the SansAmp RBI since the pedal is so popular. But, then occasionally some amped sounds might be handy, for which the TC Electronic RH450 would be perfect. I've been using Axe FX II but messing with the idea of selling it, and will need a replacement for bass sounds that doesn't break the bank.

This is pretty awesome, but usually I don't use an ampsim on bass tracks.

Do you know ola's tutorial on bass tones?
That's a pretty easy way to get a good bass tone.
If you want a more advanced guide you should buy ermz's "Systematic Mixing Guide" which contains a detailed chapter about editing and mixing bass.

I have the mixing guide and have seen Ola's videos. Thanks for the help! I'm not really asking about HOW to mix bass, but tools that are commonly used. I would rather use hardware for my dirt, something in the amp sims I own don't sound right for me, although I do the rest of my processing ITB.

The SansAmp RBI seems like a surefire choice, but I'm curious about what everybody else uses, or any tricks or whatever out there, besides the already mentioned sources.
