Eurovision & Lordi

Let's hope that Orphaned Land will perform in Eurovision for Israel (or for any other country) next year :D

Eurovision is an old fashion silly commercial stuff, but honestly, i am still watching it every year :puke:

They surely have the ethnic stuff in place for participating, since they SOUND like coming from Israel.

Oh well, I don't think I can watch it this year, I don't think I'm home :(

well,, I wouldn't mind any metal-band performing at Eurovision, if you manage to pass to the finals it's a very good promotion - for free.

And when does a metalband nowadays get to play in front of a couple of millions of people?

But this doesn't change the fact that I think that Lordi is nothing but a huge piece of crap, from the musical side.
Their show is quite funny, but the music itself is just plain boring.

Great song, great album, great band! Hopefully they'll be doing a couple of club shows around the Summerbreeze festival...

As for Eurovision, obviously I'd have loved to see In Extremo in Athens who were competing in the German pre-selection, but sadly didn't make it...oh, well...:Smug:

First, Finnish religious leaders warned that the Freddy Krueger look-alikes could inspire Satanic worship. Then critics called for President Tarja Halonen to use her constitutional powers to veto the band and nominate a traditional Finnish folk singer instead. Rumors even circulated that Lordi members were agents sent by President Vladimir V. Putin to destabilize Finland before a Russian coup — an explanation for their refusal to take off their freakish masks in public.
ahaha this is one of the funniest things i have ever heard :D
and a greek group tries to urge finland to prohibit lordi from entering the contest because it's contrary to european and greek culture and that they will spread "satanism" among people.
i used to think that such things only happened in turkey, but it seems that it can even happen in finland

btw i took this quote from here: http://www.nytimes.com/iht/2006/04/24/world/24finn.html

Hehehe, it's a funny thing. But after Lordi's great performance at the semi-final, there is a big audience who sees with positive view their appearance at the contest. Really.

Am I the only one not happy with this Lordi thing?
I think they look like total morrons and provide the general public with yet another example of how idiotic and extreem metal fans look ( to their eyes at least):err:

Again my grandma/ people in the street will think this metal thing cannot be a good thing- thanks to the dress sense of this Lordi lot :erk:
