Eurovision & Lordi

Lordi do thier thing and other bands do thiers. If you don't like it, don't listen.
But i can tell you that OL really appreciate Lordi's music since they were with them in sevrel fastivels and they supporte thier winning.
We all have different point of views on thier winning or thier music and that's fine, but let's try not to get into arguing and upsating other people who do like them please.
Kiitos.

How scary I said in another post "how funny would it be if they won" and they did! Awsome! I was so happy and im not even a Fin. That is coup for metal and all who follow her gracious white noise against comercial pop/rock rubbish and greedy record companies!

My point about Lordi has nothing to do with what I think of their music or whether I think it sounds poppy. My point was about them confirming the things people already think/ heard about metal musicians and their fans.
Yes, you could say; who cares about the way other people see me, as I am a metalfan and don't care about that. But I can tell you that when you get older and still isten to metal, in some parts of your life you will be confronted with the negative image that people have of metalmusic.

Like in my professional life, collegues in the office that found out I listen to metal would comment on it, like: you seemed a normal person....
Or others would tell my mom in the street: why does your daughter listen to metal still? She's an educated person, she should be grown up by now.

In other words: "grown ups"/ "smart people"don't listen to metal. HA

That's really stupid to say something like that. What? just because i'm a grown up i can't listen to metal?! or people who likes metal considered stupid?! that's really mean to say!
I mean, there is rock bands and metal bands who's genuinly nice people, like OL. And some of them even graduaded.
I think people was more like: "Well, they are Finnish. Finland is boreing so this people were just bored so they decided to dress like monsters! and they have a country where people suicide in winter, so what can you expect from them?". That's at least part of the reactions i read. And that makes me angry.

All I will say is that Lordi's costumes are really well made. Having the chance to see them from very near, these are amazing :D

And I don't really care if it looks ridiculous or not. The fact is that an Heavy Metal band kicked ass to everyone. And a lot of people said they would never won, like the most known TV presentator in france "Finland never won the contest and won't win with *this*", he is now as ridiculous as Lordi's costumes...

I see what you mean, except that those people are just narrowminded as hell, and I(!) wouldn't even befriend them, and as long as they're just my partners in work I'd have no need too.

But I also do think that Lordi did it with style, like taking the flowers in the end, and being really nice all the time. I'm moreso believing that this will have a positive effect to the common people, since they will see that metalheads aren't these stupid thugs that they once thought they were. People are afraid of what they don't know, and if you teach them to actually know the truth, they will understand. Just like at my "new" school (one year), a lot of people have seen that I'm not some deathfucker (a girl asked me if I where satanic), as they believe in the start, just because I weared a Cradle of Filth shirt.

And also, this is progress, in not so many years - I believe (but I know it will happen eventually) - there will have came a huge progress from this time, where people respect metal more than now, because of Lordi and maybe a followup Metal success after them.

But I totally see that this could backfire at us, but I could also so - and what I believe mostly in - see that there will be a positive progress. Time will tell.

Well, noone has to seem cute for pretending nice to people's grandmothers.

And anyone who has any minde older that 6 years old could understand that the Lordi bands are not really beasts.

They had good music and a nice homour.

Other point is that, it was the first time that Finland had the first place in Eurovision history. And Finland took the contest without any political or neighbourhood stuff.

Simply, it was a great night :)

That Israel was more "primitive" in music than say, upper europe. I know and deeply love the Israeli metal scene, but it isn't that big, if you compare it to the scandinavian scene.

Well i think Eastern Europe, Scandinavia and Israel are quite good at metal scene. Especially in western europe, most of people like to listen hip-hop or house kind of stuff. Or some listens gothic bands (with electronic elements) in countries like Germany or Switzerland.

And surely Israel is much more traditional than rest of the europe that they have an history more than 2000 years and if you will include babylonia to Israeli history too, it can able to mention 6000 years but still what i see is Israel has also a western face, because most of people there moved israel from european countries and from russia.
