I want to buy a external hard drive for christmas so I can delete a bunch of shit from my hard drive and free up a bunch of space on my PC which has a weesley 40gb hard drive. However I know nothing about them so I'm not sure which to get, or if there any certain features I should look for/stay away from. I dont need anything of superduper high quality, just something that has a decent amount of space 100-150GB or so that isnt a piece of crap.

I was thinking about getting one of these
Fantom Titanium 120GB USB 2.0 7200rpm Hard Drive TFDU12072 at TigerDirect.com

Cavalry 160GB 7200 2MB USB2.0 External Hard Drive CAUE37160 at TigerDirect.com

So what would you recommend?

Yeah I'd go with more of a name brand drive. I've been through so many crap externals. Get one that has a Seagate or a Western Digital drive in it.

I always had good luck with Quantegys. I think they no longer make them but ebay has new ones for sale. Rock solid, but the fans are loud! I have complete in trust in the six I have.
