Extreme-Iso Headphones...

The HD280Pros sound fantastic, and I have no issue in a room with a live band or sitting down behind a drum kit with those on- they're at least as effective as earplugs as far as attenuating sound goes. I've never had a click bleed problem with them either.

I just got a pair of these the other week as well, and I think they're great...and SOUND better than the Vic Firth's or Extreme Iso's that I've tried.

They do sound OK, not quite like the hi-end stuff from Sennheiser, AKG or Sony, but reasonably sounding, very good isolation and comfortable to wear plus good overall db-damping. Good build quality and a nice product for the price.

We bought a pair of those Vic Firth's for tracking, and our drummer really didn't like their sound. A couple of takes and he went back to in-ears and a pair of Peltor working isos :)

In-ear and Peltor is the way to go. With the in-ear you get around 15-20 dbs (depending on the ear bud) and the Peltor adds another 25-30. You feel the sound through your body before you hear it. ;)

Yay! The HD 280 PRO look like what I'm after. 32db of attenuation! I bet they sound better than the EX-29 and SIH-1 too. And they won't break the bank, which is good.

I have the HD 280 Pros and the EX-29s. 280s do sound good IMO and I like them, I think the 29s are better for iso and the 280s don't come near 32db reduction. I've used both for tracking drums, but now I'm using the 29s for the drummer and the 280s for the vocalist and myself. Either pair will save you from going deaf when you stick your head in front of a cranked 4x12.

I've noticed with both pairs that if you could get them to suck tighter to your head, they'd reduce a lot more noise. Does anyone know how to get them to fit tighter?

I've had some of the old Extreme Isolation headphones for a long time and they're pretty useful. One example is setting up drum sounds by yourself, they take the level down enough where you just about only hear the drums through the phones.
