The beginning of the main figure is alteration between a modified descending scale and the root of the chord. The chord is D minor (or E minor if you are using a transposing feature to take it down a whole step as Firewind do). The descending scale starts on the fifth (A). I would play the fifth with my ring finger, moving down to my middle and index as the scale goes downward. The repeated root note I play with my thumb. There is a slight variation in the downward motion of the scale before the chords to change to go C - Bb, or D - C w/ transposition.
This is probably impossible to understand in text and I am a guitar player by nature and only a keyboard playing in my spare time, but hopefully it helps a little.
