Fanboy Obsessions

I'm talking about combat boots. You know, the black boots that the twats at metal shows like to wear? THe ones that they stick their camouflage pants into? ugh... Go to fucking war.
Definitely sounds like you have much more against the people wearing the boots than the boots themselves, as there really is nothing wrong with them. Army boots are obviously very well-designed and durable. Also you can get them from surplus stores very cheap. I'm not into spending $50+ on shoes.

I've got MetallicA-flagposters (Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets), Bewitched poster, the Haunted poster, pr0n and some more stuff on my walls.

Oh, but you generalize too much... Who said everyone with posters has Cannibal Corpse etc? I, for one, have Anathema "Eternity":

and Katatonia "Tonight's Decision":

Now I don't know about you but I find them quite beautiful and decorative...
The posters would be more attractive to me without the band name and album name on them. They'd be more pure, and them I wouldn't mind framing something like that and placing it in my house. I can definitely see myself getting the Discouraged Ones picture in a nice wooden frame and placing that in my game room. Then again, the DO cover is an actual piece of art, not just something Travis Smith put together. That TD cover is quite wondrous though. Don't like the Eternity cover. And I don't care how decorative something is, if it is held on the wall by thumb-tacks, it takes away any appeal.

But I'm more of a fan of pictures of nature, such as waterfalls, lakes, mountains, etc...

I don't see the problem people have with the price of shoes. I paid a little over $100 for the shoes I'm wearing now, Kenneth Cole's. They look good, they've endured many things, and they're comfortable. People pay more than $100 for far more stupid things.

Of course, you're right that people pay stupid prices for stupid things and shoes are really a quite necessary/useful thing to pay for, but nevertheless I feel that shoes in most cases are horribly overpriced. I think army boots have probably the best quality/price ratio... I mean, I'd rather pay little than a lot to get essentially the same thing.

Alright, I'll go along with thumbtacks looking tacky, but I suppose the pile of CDs strewn across my living room floor is pretty tacky too. Oh yeah, and all the empty beer bottles I keep on the kitchen counter for ambience (I recently tossed those though). :)

If I had a family or something then yes, my gigantic Tool, Opeth, and Danzig poster flags would be put away (or hung up in my basement hovel, where even if I have a wife and 90 kids, will always remain tr00).

I see the type of combat boots you speak of, but I think they are cool. Sure wearing camo pants and 2 foot high boots to an indoor venue looks silly, but so do most people at metal concerts anyhow, myself included (I try to wear bright colors at metal shows, just as I dress like a metal dude to non-metal shows).

Never was big into wearing metal shirts because all the people I see that do wear them are doing so strictly for shock value
Well I suppose that depends on the shirt doesn't it? If I got to a metal show, I'll wear a metal shirt. And sometimes a shirt makes a nice reminder of the show - e.g. ProgPower III was such an amazing event, I had to buy the shirt. I would have probably bought a Wacken shirt as well had I gone... :(

I'm quickly become obsessed with Kyuss and their offspring.

WHY WHY WHY didn't I listen to this stuff 10 years ago when a good friend recommended them to me, back when I only received about 2 recommendations a year instead of 14,687 a day like now!?!? Oh well, I get to hear them now. :D

I wore my Burzum shirt and a trenchcoat when I went to go see the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra play Beethoven's 7th. :tickled: I swear, other than the 1 or 2 kids that went with their parents/grandparents, everyone else at that was probably 20 years older than me on average.

I'm very fond of my Burzum shirt. Surprisingly (?) the only comment I've had about the Einsatzkommdo slogan was from one guy with his bird asking me where he could buy one.

 i want an einsatzkommando Burzum shirt.

on topic, Burzum is actually one of my fanboy obsessions, except I don't have $200+ US to fork over for the 6 LP picture disc collection that I routinely see on eBay :erk:
