This is a clip i've been working on recently, the drums atm are midi but I'll be recording real drums and re-recording the song - I am limited to 8 mic inputs with my interface (saffire 26 i/o) so am considering using the sampled room mics from toontrack - does this generally produce good results with those of you who try it? ATM my biggest concern is capturing overheads well - using a stereo matched pair of Rode NT-5's for this.

Feedback on mix welcome.

If you're doing dark hardcore then Kurt Ballou is the guy to emulate.

At least one mic is an absolute must.

Significantly sample replaced drums and amp sims sound like shit for most hardcore and sound inauthentic, fidelity isn't of the utmost concern - atmosphere is.

Aye, he is already a big influence. Hence my emphasising the 'real drums'. This is more a placeholder to encapsulate a general sound. Good general advice though!
