Fates Warning Expanded...

I am very skeptical of this DVD news coming on April 1st. Where the hell would they get video/audio quality good enough (for a DVD) from their concerts of that era?

If the news were true, though, it would be a perfect time to launch a John Arch Appreciation site/forum on the internet. ;)

Oh this is true. It's a mix of live material & video(music).
who said it would be top notch material? It could be bootleg quality
stuff from the band's sources...
I won't say anymore...

Well, I don't care much for bootleg quality anything, but I'll still be all over this release like flies on...

I hope they release it before I head for the mountains in June. If they don't JohnnyD is gonna beat me to the punch on getting this gem!

You are right. It *is* true. I was very skeptical in my first message. In the meantime I found out that it was announced way before the 1st of April.

Here on this forum you can say what you want buddy :) I am curious about this. You are right though, I expect it to be bootleg quality. Like the horrible images of the liver performance on the remasters of the DVD that came with the Psychotic Waltz remasters.

I guess we'll have to wait and see

I still don't understand people that don't "care" for bootleg material...

Well, it the sound and image quality.

It's cool to see the stuff, it's stuff that is shot by the fans that have a passion for the bands. Oh, well. I just don't get it...

It is indeed nice to see some unique stuff. Its not about that. Its that the quality of what you see get boring very soon.

I have a few thousand LP's and cds [mind you this is just a very uneducated guess. I really care how many albums I have as long as I like them] and only 2 bootlegs.

I guess that you value the thought of having something special from a band you like, higher than having it all in perfect sound and image quality. I can understand that. :D

the worst part is you prolly will! hahaha I really think albums should be released Worldwide at the same time .. but thats just because I'm Jealous Europeans always get albums first hahaha:Spin:

This irks me to no end...damn lucky Euros! For me though, if it's something I really want bad, I'll just fork out the $30 and buy the import version so I can get it right away. I'm not gonna sit around and wait for an American release. I may be out of touch when this Fates re-release comes out though. If so, I'll have to wait and listen to JD gloat about it later.

As for my opinion on bootlegs, Hawk hit it right on the nose. It's all about quality for me. Production is VERY important to me. I'm not a collector, so having something from one of my fave bands just for the sake of having it holds no merit in my world. I just buy albums and dvds that I know will get alot of playing time.

I'm not interested in low quality recordings because I find it hard to sit through them when they sound like they were recorded in a garbage can. That's my world though, yours may differ.

My Official viewpoint on Bootlegs:
I like a good Well Recorded Bootleg ... as long as I can hear everything I am happy .. now what I like about Boot is the fact that the band has no chance to fuck with it aka clean it up you get the band as they are and as they likely sound on a nightly basis and not just a live album were they went out of their way to sweetin the whole thing up ... basicly to an extent its more real than an official live release ... ofcourse I cant stand shitty bootlegs if its a blur of sound that ya really cant make anything of then ya I dont want it :)
