With the sheer number of bands with more technicality and better sounds, the 00's beat the 80's handily.

I don't know about the best, but 00's is easily the worst. Where are the seminal bands and albums? I'd be hard pressed to name 5 00's albums which come close to the hundeds of fantastic and essential 80's and 90's stuff.

00's = mediocrity.

I would say 90s. 80's had its good share of thrash bands and some pretty good mainstream metal bands but you can't deny all the awesome black and death metal bands that came out in the 90s.

00's have some great refinements and excellent things from estabilished genres (which I don't mid at all), but nothing new or classic like the 90's.
