Favorite Ulver Songs

I've been listening to a ridiculous amount of Ulver this week (old and new stuff) and I decided, in an attempt to decrease my boredom, to make a thread that is in no way original or neccessary.

Anyway, my favorite Ulver song is "Trollskogen" off of their demo. For those of you who haven't heard it, this is an all acoustic song that totally beats anything on Kveldssanger. The emotion and atmosphere created by the guitar lines and Garm's whispering is completely out of this world. If I had to pick another song, it would probably be "Wolf and Man". The riff that starts at 4:18 in that song has my vote as the best riff ever created.

So now, what are your favorites?

Of Wolves and Withdrawal is the best thing they ever did. It is beyond mortal comprehension.

My favorite Ulver song is is Porn Piece or the Scars of Cold Kisses (Part 1).

The first track on the second disc of William Blake is very muchly thusly UNRULY.

The track on Bergtatt with the running through the woods gives me a boner.

Darling Didn't We Kill you is one of my favorite tunes to drive around at night to.

Nowhere/Catastrophe is one of the best album closers since Would? (if you don't know that album you are GAY AND LYING).

@ NAD, I'm not such a huge fan of "Of Wolves and Withdrawal" - don't get me wrong, I like my atmospheric noise, but that never really clicked with me. Why do you like it so much?

It would have to be "Soelen gaeer bag aasse ned" this song is just pure beauty with the black vox and clean chant (for that syle it doesnt get much better imo) Other then that... porn piece, wolf and passion and ulvsblakk.

Well the lyrics make more sense that way, don't they... and that's what it says in the booklet, so...

Well, I suppose it fits the rythm better, but whether it makes more sense I'm not sure. That is what they sing, though. No doubt about that.

Also notable is the track "Of Wolves & Withdrawal," which is nine minutes of near-silence that, upon closer listening (at maximum volume) reveals a mix of rumbling sub-bass frequencies, extremely quiet static brushing sounds, and a few ominous clamoring noises at the end -- it may not have been meant as a way to frustrate old fans wishing Ulver would go back to playing black metal, but that's the likely result this among that segment of the audience.

Quite a nifty concept.
