As I said earlier I hate Tales. They took the whole progressive thing too far. Its too big. I've had it a while, given it some spins, and frankly its taken so long to get into it I've decided that its a waste of space and relegated it to the back of my collection, where it grows dusty with non-usage.

I guess I'm the only Drama fanatic. Machine Messiah, Does It really Happen?, Into the Lens, all classics. Yes got a little heavier and better produced on this one in my opinion, or maybe just because I'm a Trevor Horn fan. Either way, it rocks. This cd never ages.

Thanks Demonspell, I knew I could count on one of the true open-minded voices of reason on this board to step out from the brainwashed masses and admit his affection for this overlooked gem!

I haven't heard a lot of Yes, and I only own Close to the Edge and Fragile. My father loves yes though, so I've kinda heard bits and pieces over time, but never really noticed it until I picked one up myself, and that was "Close to the Edge". Damn near the best song ever written in my opinion.

Actually, I really wanted to write an in depth review of the song, but I happened to find one on the net that far outdoes any of my reviewing abilities. I think anyone who has heard this album should check it out and listen to the album as you read the review....It's like an otherworldly experience.......

Here's the linkhttp://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Concert/8459/closetotheedge.html

Check it out!

I should also add that Bruford has the most tasteful drumwork I've ever heard....At least on CTTE! I must check Relayer out too, that seems to be a popular album........

yeah, bruford's drumming is sensational... i especially like his work on "heart of the sunrise" from fragile. I own Red too and a couple other bruford era crimson cds... theyre also good, though I dont like crimson as much as yes. Im not a fan of wandering impromptu pieces

i liked bruford's playing so much that i took awhile to adjust to white's stuff on relayer and tales.. it seemed so restrained... like he would do some cool fills here and there but it seemed really normal. I gradually came to appreciate the subtelty of it later but i still prefer bruford. anyone know if his other work is worthwhile? stuff he did after crimson? i know he had a solo cd or something too... (speaking of which, are any of the solo cds from yes members worth hearing?)

Three fantastic releases by Bruford-
UK-UK With Alan Holdsworth, maybe the best guitarist EVER.
check out the song "In the Dead of Night"

Bruford-Feels Good to Me : Also with Holdsworth and Jeff Berlin, one of the most amazing bass plyers you will ever hear. This is true electric jazz fusion, amazingly technical. Check out songs "Beelzebub", and "Sample and Hold".

Bruford-One of a Kind : Also with Holdsworth and Berlin. Check out the songs "Hell's Bells" and "Five G".

I have heard several other solo works by him that were good, I believe there is a "best of" compilatioin of Brufords solo stuff, I think it's called something like Master Strokes.
