Favourite distortion pedal into clean amp?

No.

Your better off getting amp that can actually do it, Pedals into amps for chugga chugga sounds like arse.
Fenders are great for cleans, or a really nasty dirt (an aquired taste, i happen to love it for certain things)

Already gained out amp boosted with a Tube Screamer/Maxon 808 = pretty cool stuff.
Some pedal into the front end of an amp for the gain = not so cool stuff.
That is, unless the style needs that sound, but otherwise for more 'clean' sounding modern rock and metal, it's a no go zone.

But so many claim it's doable. This is for an alternative setup - I've already got a Recto preamp.

Then buy a decent power amp

I have an ART SLA-1 that's really quite nice, and a killing 1x12 with a V30 to go with it.

This pedal is for a silent setup that I can run into Amplitube JHE/Fender as an alternative to the recto + IR tone.

Those would be the same people that have no idea what they're talking about and are trying to justify that 800 dollar "boutique" pedal they wasted their money on because it has "mojo" and "vibe".

So, you would use the pedal, plug it into an interface and than Amplitube?
If that is correct, get yourself some good, free, plugins like Lecto, TSE X30/X50, LeXTAC or others, you can find the links
here in the forum, there are many great plugins for free. If you want a real pedal and place it in front of a real amp, there
are a few things, but nothing that gets you "there".
You could use a POD XT in front of it, without the cab simulation, would be ok for playing at home and stuff, but still a
huge difference between that and a 5150 for example.

Amptweaker tight metal pedal ... Got one last week and its by far the best pedal out there. Not quite a Maxon 808 into gain channel, but almost there. Made by James Brown (worked on 5150 XXX JSX) and can be used as a preamp, by by-passing your own (plugging straight into the return on your effects loop), or for a different tone, through a clean channel if you wish. Built like a brick shithouse too! Comes with its own effects loop, pre or post.
Has a different character, but for $180, I jumped at it and now it gives me another good tone to work with, instead of buying another amp, its full of win!
Check it out here ........

I don't think a Super Champ XD is an ideal candidate for typical metal tones. The speaker is a 'special design' which probably means a cheap Eminence, that's going to affect everything. It uses two 6V6 power tubes which I personally have never been fond of for anything. This thing doesn't even have FX SEND/RETURN, so your out of luck using it as a power amp and running something else as a preamp.

Don't waste your time spending a bunch of time/money on this. Get a second-hand metal zone or something and use it for practice.

I'm running a V30 equipped 1x12 with the SCXD. Sounds really good.

But this is actually more for my silent setup, going into Amplitube JHE/Fender. As an alternative to the Recto preamp I have.

I sometimes use a Blackstar HT-DISTX into my clean channel , but I also use a tone core Uber metal through the clean channel depends how im feeling . When im not using the amp I prefere to take the emulated out from my Digitech Metal master (the best pedal with cab emulation imo) and play that direct into the desk . Ofcourse the amp on its own sounds good also but it never reaches it best performance until its been worked hard and fully heated for like 2-3 hours . I simply dont have time for that on a daily basis .
