Why isn't James Hetfield and Cliff Burton on there? I mean I really like it, but I just think that Metallica should've been on there, at least James.

Well, I like how it is general oldschool and everyone can relate to it, of course, I would have preferred eric peterson and king diamond to be there as well.
It seems we all have our favorites. Of course if the banner would have shown all of our suggestions it would have become too big. There were choices to be made, as usual in real life, and this is what came out. I really like this. And I think this is going to be our banner for quite some time.

Well it was my idea in the first place and I think it looks great! it would be impossible to put everybodys favorite ... BUT that doesnt mean you guys cant come up with your own we dont have to have the same picture up there ALL the time we can always rotate it ya know month by month or whatever... Or even Theme Backgrounds around upcoming releases

As far as "swapping out" banners, I do like the idea, but I like this one as our unofficial "official" banner. I can look at it and see the amount of time that went into it. I know I won't be doing that much work with PS and PSP every month to make one.

Ha ha ha yeah I have noticed after the PPV, you have replied to all the TM posts as well as making some of your own. I still think about how bad-ass Urban Breed (the whole band really) is on stage. What a fucking awesome frontman !!!! It's a good thing I was almost right up front. Had someone been in front of me hadbanging, their head may have fallen in my mouth accidentally..... anyway.... I hope they continue writing albums as solid as their last several because they might end up being one of the few European metal bands that really gets their way paved for them from the US metal audiece. PPUSA might be only 1200 people, but the buzz they created seems to still be going strong around the US. If Century Media would fork out the money to get them to open for a real heavy hitter like Dream Theater or Queensryche or play a big US festival like Ozzfest, TM could become a household name in the metal genre. I feel sorry for any band that plays right after them, I don't care how good and popular their material is.

I think as mild and fair the suggestions have been about why certain bands aren't on that banner, I think that we have to remember that TSO did that with his own time and effort and probably was not compensated for his creation. With that in mind, I feel that he did a really good job, getting the Metal essentials together for a GREAT OS banner.

Actually I was compensated for the banner, Walter. The way everyone was happy and excited to have a cool banner up in their forum, and praised my work, it turned out to be very rewarding indeed. Some of the best four hours I ever spent!
I didn't take any of the criticism to heart, because I understood their position. Hell, there were several bands I wanted to add myself, but just didn't have the room for everyone that deserved representation.
The best part was that NOBODY argued about any of the musicians I DID put in there, only the ones I didn't. That was as much success as I could hope for.

Overall a good banner. I haven't ventured to any of the other forums on this site to see if they have banners too, because frankly, they aren't as classy as Old School...
