well the clean vox are in the same vein as bands like sentenced and charon, and the song day to end is explicitly depeche mode-like. i'm not sure dt could have gone more gothic than that...

i see... well, i tend to see gothic as a rather bigger category: gothic-rock (sisters of mercy), gothic-pop (depeche mode), gothic-rock (some him, some paradise lost), gothic-metal (sentenced, charon)...
nightwish are more orchestral than gothic imo, especially since the lyrics are more varied and the music is often way too upbeat for goths. but all this tags are not so important, as long as you and i understand each other, o sweet dutch girl.

More seriously, the term Gothic Metal is (or at least was) commonly used to describe bands in the vein of Theatre of Tragedy, Tristania, et cetera - ie. bands that had grunted male vocals & clean female vocals and somewhat "medieval" theme in their songs. Thus, Sentenced could hardly be entitled as Gothic Metal by those standards.

However, I agree with Rahvin that if compared to those early gothic pop/rock bands, Sentenced is probably much closer to them than Theatre of Tragedy was on their Velvet Darkness They Fear -album (nowadays ToT is just gothic pop, sadly).

And honestly, apart from Day to End, I don't think Projector is gothic at all.
