Festival news: Fates Warning

Last night I was laying in bed thinking about how badass the fest is, I realized something.

Fates Warning is my second favorite band playing the fest(Circus Maximus is first), but for whatever reason I'm not really excited for them.

So I got to thinking, what could make Fates Warning stand out on a night with Circus Maximus, Orphaned Land, Pagan's Mind and Brainstorm? Outside of the obvious, of course. (John Arch, Parallels in its entirety ;)) How about some of the higher register vocalists come on stage with Fates and do some guest vocals on the older John Arch material? :kickass: I would KILL to see someone like NIls or Lance King busting out classics like The Sorceress and Fata Morgana!

I know where everyone is coming from hoping for an Arch era show. Zedowns makes a great argument, but I think Fates believes their material (as do I) is so much more advanced (lyrically and musically) over the last 10-15 yrs. and that's what they will focus on. Jim has said in other interviews that he isn't into the old material. Anywho, I don't care what they play I am crazy excited to see them at such a great venue and event!!!!!

I DO agree that the Alder era is more advanced, and hell, I enjoy it MUCH more myself. But it definitely wouldn't hurt to hear some of the Arch stuff, and considering they've been playing the same setlist since 2007, it'd make for a really special show.

Totally agree-Zedowns. I like the newer Fates much more but the older stuff is what started this whole genre. Bring it all on 9/12!!!
