X was great. For the record, VIII > VII. XII wasn't bad, XI was revolutionary and gained a whole new fanbase.

All of the battle systems sucked, and every game was ridiculously easy. But IX was charming and had good atmosphere.

The limit system in VIII was much better in VII's mainly because of interactivity in it. Don't get me wrong, the Cloud/Sephiroth story was badass (and Sephiroth is still pimpin the bitches) but VIII was so much more interesting. VII has the win in the ability system due to Materia being easier to obtain yet a little more challenging when it comes to obtaining rare stuff.

But, VIII's wasn't so bad. VIII's storyline took a wicked twist, beyond VII's complexity that kept me interested. There were a lot more extras in the game (ie UFOs that stole cows) and there were more futuristic aspects, which I personally enjoy in a game. Laguna's timeline meeting with the game's timeline was very interesting not to mention the compression in time that occurred in the game. Also, the soundtrack was better, 100 fold.

If I wasn't such a graphic whore, I might play VIII again but Assassin's Creed graphics > 1999 Final Fantasy graphics. But, it may be worth it for the storyline alone.

Wow nerds...

I must say 12 was kind of horrid after a while. Once you realize it's not going to get any better it's a bit of a bore from then on. The trite storyline, the repetitive battling system, the redundant hunt sidequest, and those ridiculously cheesy voices...bleh. 8 is my personal favorite.
