Yeah it seems like this is more of a Vintersorg-Otyg-Borknagar-Finntroll forum. Fine with me!

So I have all the Vintersorg albums, and all the Otyg albums, and I am soon going to order Borknagar-Empiricism. I guess I better go find some Finntroll. I've never heard them. What is a good album to start with? Do they sound kinda like Otyg? Where are they from?
 
Finntroll are from Finnland ... but I wouldn't really compare them with Vintersorg or Otyg. Of course they also have a very "folkish" sound, but they do have their very unique style ... the guitar riffs are played in traditional finnish "humpaa"-style ("humpaa" is a variety of polka), which actually sounds pretty cool in my opinion :)

You may get some mp3-samples from their official webpage (or from my fanpage), if you're curious ...

No, they're not really like Otyg. It's hard to describe them except that they have a sort of black metal/power metal/polka thing going on, and that their older material is somewhat more folksy than their latest stuff. The vocalist has a somewhat death metal-ish vocal style, as well. There are lots of songs about christians getting ground to jelly by trolls too, if that's your sort of thing but they're all sung in swedish. (Yes, they're from Finland, and they write songs in swedish. :lol: )

I would say that on the whole, the material from the Jaktens Tid album is the best that I've heard from them, but really all their material is fun. That's mainly why I like them, really... it's fun music. I get the impression that they don't take themselves so damn seriously like a lot of metal acts around... that they're just having a good time.

It looks a lot like Thyrfing's "Urkraft" cover
actually, and this being my fav' album at the

Yes - the background-graphics for the page have been taken from the "Jaktens Tid"-cover.

At the moment I'm working on some updates, but don't know when I'll be able to put them on the page ... I'm sooo busy right now -- furthermore I'm also working on a complete new layout for the official Dornenreich-Webpage.
