FIREWIND mainman/guitarist Gus G. has issued the following statement:

"It seems that 2007 has been quite an adventurous year for our singer Apollo. He's currently having some problems back home and needs to take the next few months off. As our touring schedule is quite heavy, we will continue with a replacement and give him the time he needs to get back smoothly.

"The German vocalist Henning Basse (METALIUM) will step in from now on and complete all the 2007 tour dates with us. Henning has helped us already in the past on some shows on our last European tour with ANGRA. He really kicks ass on stage and is a great singer and performer, as well as a great guy. We're grateful to have him on board once again and you'll be surprised by how hard this guy rocks!

"All our upcoming shows will go on as scheduled and announced — no FIREWIND shows will be cancelled!"

FIREWIND's new single, "Breaking the Silence" (featuring Tara Teresa), entered the national single chart in Greece at position No. 19 and moved up to No. 16 in its second week. The video for the single's title cut, directed by Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL), can be viewed below.

FIREWIND will soon embark on the third and final leg of its "World Allegiance" tour which will include a short U.K. run, their first-ever North American tour and a few shows in Japan with KAMELOT.

Jeez! What's with all the lineup issues this year? I feel for ya, Glenn, but you sure do roll with the punches well.

So.. is any band actually going to make it to PP completely intact?
Luckily thus far the bands I care most about haven't really been effected.

I don't think its possible for Vanden Plas to have a line up change. So there's one band that we'll see completely intact! :kickass:

damn who many is that now in the last 3 years?? What's up with all the line-up changes?

Seems to me that Apollo is a big reason they got on the roster this year (since Glenn indicated it was their latest album which allowed them to squeak on... even though I think that the songwriting improved too). Oh well. I haven't heard the other singer. Maybe I'll like him just as well.

I'm a big a Firewind fanboy as you'll find anywhere having run the official forum for almost 2 years and now moderating the current one here on the UM boards. With that said I hate to say it but Im kinda glad.......

Apollo sounds great in the studio no doubt.......however his appearance at PPUK 1 last year wasnt all that impressive, and the clips Ive seen on youtube arent that impressive either.

I know many people dont like Chity due to his reputation but the man has a set of fucking pipes, and Apollo doesnt come close to him when attempting to sing songs off of "Forged By Fire". His vocals for the Stephen Frederick sang stuff was kind of iffy as well.

The Metalium singer is fucking great! I wish he'd take over vocals permanently. I just cant see Apollo being there for the long haul in this band. He has alawys appeared to me as a studio vocalist.

I'm really hoping this doesn't turn into a yearly thing. Didn't this happen en tandem last year too?

Still, last year went off without much a hitch. It was nice to see Iron Savior w/ guest vocalist Jens Carlsson performing Savage Circus songs.
