First mix of album's first song (progressive thrashy metal)

Hello all,

This is a demo that I recorded of the first track on my band's album. The vocals are being written at the moment so aren't in yet.

All I've done to the track is triggered the kick, blended in a nice beefy snare and eq'd and comp'd everything a little more to my taste. Little bit of verb too. Just put a limiter on the master out - haven't given a proper master much thought as of yet. Let me know if you think I'm on the right tracks with this so all feedback is very welcome.

As a band we kind of want that raw sort of vibe to everything, so any tips to achieve that would be greatly appreciated.

Had a quick listen, the guitars sound really muffled.

Yeh that lighter tone isn't completely working for me but I really want the guitars in the intro to sound quite choked (maybe not quite muffled, mind), maybe a little distant too...call me crazy but I kinda like a bit of crappiness here and there.

I think the high gain guitars sound ok though...feels like they have their place without overpowering the drums but are still quite thrashy and raw.

Anyone else with anything else? Would be really helpful if you could give suggestions with your critique too, this is the first track I've ever recorded so am happy to call myself a novice
