Five Former Members Of In Flames Unite In The Halo Effect

Ok, so Anders is a shitty singer and mostly a dick of a person. That's solved.

Just want to say, I've been spinning THE album on work pretty much nonstop and it's still a killer. Got used to clean vocals to seem extent.

More surprising than this, new Arch Enemy is actually pretty fucking decent with some songs even not being recycled dumbed down versions of their previos work. My expectations were low, but this is a first solid thing they released in last 15 years or so.

New AE is certainly the safest album they've released with Alissa on vocals. Nothing particularly original but it's a solid album. About a 7/10 for me, good but doesn't really stray from the formula. I'd say Will to Power has better individual tracks, but Deceivers is more consistent from start to finish.

Songs I'm spinning mostly from DotL at the moment are Conditional, Gateways, A Truth Worth Lying For and The Most Alone. I guess because they're fresh, and I had already listened to most of the others a lot before the album dropped. We basically heard 50% of the album before it was released.

I've been listening to it, at least 5 times a day since it was leaked. It's time to give it a pause.

I guess that was ot. The hype is gone. And now I'm left with a feeling of emptiness that only the compulsory consumption of dwarven porn will help me to fill.

Fucking awesome that Ornkloo and Bergion return for this. I've always fucking loved their work with In Flames (I genuinely think the keyboards are the best part of ASoP).

Also, I really wish that the backing vocals in "In Broken Trust" were higher in the mix. I had no idea there even were any on the studio version, and I started thinking I was going crazy with thinking that the Sweden Rock Festival had them.

I just got notification today that the vinyl boxset shipped. Looking forward to opening that up.

Do you guys know if there's any way to get the Shadowminds vinyl? They're out of stock from what I can tell, so I can only get three of the four for the singles, and I would've gotten all of them had I not been worried about the album feeling too safe before getting to listening to the whole thing. I don't really have anything to listen to vinyls on, but eh, it'd be for collection's sake, I guess.

Also, does anyone know any way to listen to the remixes of the singles? I really want to hear Ihsahn's take on "Shadowminds".

Unfortunately I think Shadowminds is gone. It was strictly limited to 500 and sold exclusively on THE's website.

Fuck. I get it completely, but man. I mainly want to get to listen to the remixes, if nothing else. I hope the audio for them will be up somewhere sometime soon.

This is going to sound ridiculous but the chorus of A Truth Worth Lying For has a very boy band quality and I'm kind of amazed that they managed to make it work.

And I wanted to get the Needless End LP so I could hear Niklas Sundin's remix, but alas, I don't have a way to play vinyl at my place. :p

I think the guitar melody in the chorus, even though its simple, carries the chorus quite well, makes it a bit epic sounding.

Just watched the Halo Effect documentary. It was good, definitely worth watching. Very disappointing that Jesper wasn't part of it at all. He didn't do any interviews or anything. They talked about him a lot, that's about it.

This I know, but I had hoped there would be at least a little something from him in the documentary.
Me, having some social issues, not as bad as his (I would just kill 3/4 of the global population to he comfortable among other people) can understand how he feels.

I certainly do not only feel uncomfortable in front of a camera. I hate it. I just cannot say a word. Even for a photograph, I just feel forced.

Now, if I should have to deal with a camera around me on a regular basis, I would just run away.
