Hey dudes!

I moved in to a new studio this week. the controlroom needed some acoustic fixes and the live room is being worked on. Wood is going up on the walls for a little bit more opened sound.

I never quite understood how these digital desks work in a recording environment. So what are you using it for? Pres? ADC? Monitoring? Controller? ... ?

I can't see the pics so this may be horribly inaccurate in this particular situation, but depending on the desk, you could use it for all of those simultaneously (sp?)

Pretty sure that particular desk has a crap ton of ADAT in/out, so it's like a digitally converted version of an analog desk.

its a Mackie D8B with 4 ADAT I/O cards. I use it for Pres, monitors and controller for Pro Tools

yes. I use a Digi 002.

You can use any HD recorders with the D8B. Many used the Mackie HD24 recorder or the Alesis ADAT back in the day.
