FLIGHT OF THE VALKYRIES 2008 HEADLINER REVEALED!

Dolamite & PCW, just you wait ... just you wait ...
 Swordzy, have I told YOU lately that I love you?

PS - To al those of you wondering about what is going on with the FotV Website, we do have an update coming and I'm incredibly sorry it's not already up. The new design (which is fucking awesome , btw) has been completed, but the computer that my Dreamweaver software was on got a virus. I'd have our designer post the new site, but he is currently out of the country on vacation. I'm working on a way around this and am hoping to have the new site live sometime this weekend. I'll post a notice on here as soon as it's live. Just wanted to let you guys know in case you are wondering about travel information and other festival details that we don't have enough room for on the homepage. That information will be made available soon.

The new look and feel for the Flight of the Valkyries Web site and Myspace are up - www.femalemetalfest.com

We are still making some adjustments so please let us hear your feedback and let me know if you encounter any glitches or have any suggestions.

Fly Strong!

EDIT: Just noticed that the "events" page looks like it needs some adjusting as far as the column width goes. I'll take care of that tonight.

Just one thing that's been bothering me that I figured I would bring up (this isn't to talk shit or anything, just trying to be helpful) is I've seen this fest being billed as the "United States' only metal music festival featuring metal bands with female lead vocalists" which isn't really accurate. Though it leans a bit more towards 80's metal and rock than modern metal, the Powerbox fest (haha... that fucking name) is a fest with much the same idea.

Do with this information what you will, just trying to help. Good luck with the fest :D

I actually just found out about them this past weekend, and believe me that was after almost a year of searching before we made the claim to be the only US female-fronted metal festival. As you mentioned their "festival" claims to be more rock oriented, as where we claim to be the only "US metal festival" devoted to bands with female vocals. I also have seen nothing about plans for their festival for this year and as far as I can tell they don't have a web site (maybe I'm being snobby, but that would make them more of a viable entity in my eyes). That Myspace may very well be the only record of that show's existence. I'd be curious to hear if anyone went to that show and what they thought. The line-up for last year seemed pretty interesting.

I do appreciate you bringing this to our attention though.

It is a legitimate festival with a website (linked on their myspace) and the site doesn't have much except something advertising the forthcoming announcement for the 2008 edition of the fest.

Being from around here, i will say that it was a bit of a mystery. I know a lot of people who wanted to go but were unsure if it was actually going to happen since there was little advertisement, but it definitely did. I know that Aghora has pics from that fest on their myspace.

Again, i mean no disrespect, just a suggestion since you asked about it. I personally think it'd be legitimate to keep it like that since the powerbox fest caters more to rock with a few metal bands, but that's your call. Cheers.

Ahh, yes, now I see the website link. It was a little buried in the midst of everything else on their myspace page, but the link is there. Like you said though, there is not much on the Web site that really indicates that this will be an annual event, except to say that they have mentioned that more news is to come on the 2008 show. I wonder if they are intending to move the date to a later time this year. Since it looks like the show occurs in the summer near a campground I would think they wouldn't want to move it too much considering Washington state's 9-month rainy season. With only 30 friends on their Myspace (not that that's the only indication of success) I also wonder how well this show sold last year. Since they have at least mentioned intending to do another show this year, I would have to imagine it didn't do too bad, but I can't be sure at this point.

Non-the-less, making mention of this event's existence is appreciated.
