yup go for it if the price is good, made some good money out of mine! very transparent, the comp sounds rad on o/h's too, just watch the little micro switches that change it from mic to line input.... mine went faulty and made the mic input crackle... sorted it tho,

Used one of these for vocals all the time at the Looney Bin...if you like the sound, get it. I have found with better strips that the Platinum series from Focusrite is kinda shrill, thin and sterile sounding. Not that it's a bad thing I suppose, just not my preference. I guess for certain things it's alright. However, the compression on the TwinTrak and VoiceMaster is really cool and easy to find the right ratios on for some reason. Dunno why it's easier to set-up the comp for a vocal signal on a Focusrite TwinTrak/VoiceMaster, but I usually don't question the good things,

i'll be using it for vocals and podxt (guitars/bass) eventually snare and other drumkit piece, of course for monitoring purposes too
for those who told me their impressions about the twin rack i'd like to know from you if it's worth more than an ART TPSII , cuz i got both for good prices and can't decide which one pick...i hope my friend can borrow me the twin for a week to see how is it....i can't test the art tho

if it is a platinum series I would tell you to avoid it like the plague. I had the mis fortune of dealing with these things in a studio a few years back and the front end CLIPS with anykind of percusive attack thing(guitar, drum, bass) we could only make it work on keyboards, and barely on vox). so you can say I am pretty down on the platinum stuff. HOWEVER the blue face plated stuff is great I love my two 428's. they are very nice and open sounding. kind of like pulling a blanket off of the speakers when I compare them to my yamaha O2R96 pre-amps. anyway my two cents

i use one atm, and would have to say the preamps arent as full as id like em to be. but thats when comparing to something that would cost alot more. for the price, its a purpose serving,space saving unit. got mine second hand with the optional adc card, no complains at all

there were two of them in the studio of the same model and we had the identical problem on both of them. the problem was they clipped out on the very input portion of the pre amp. plug a guitar di in and REALLY listen for the clip on a percusive attack type of riff. it gives you a little "kik" and you can't get rid of it. I would tell you to save some extra cash and get a step up from there for your pre amp investment. I have really liked the presonus stuff for sound quality and price performance as well. once again this was my experience working with the platinum stuff. I own two of the 428's and they are VERY VERY nice for the dough. so I can only assume the mid and higher end stuff from Fucusrite is as good as the 428's I got
