i built the current computer im using about 1 and a half years ago. during that entire duration, i had an ASUS peice of crap video card. At the time, it was a great buy! but over the months it got louder... and louder... and louder...

today i go to boot up the good ole pc and WHAMMO, my computer sounded like 50 helicopters flying around my control room

i jerked that sucker out (i knew this day would come, so i was prepared), and popped in my new video card.

gigabyte's silent pipe technology. its basicaly a gigantic heatsink that goes over THE ENTIRE VIDEO CARD

and now my computer is whisper quiet!!!

do your self a favor and buy this card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Passive cooling video cards FTW. For me the best games don't require much GPU power, so it's no problem(... unless Starcraft2 and Diablo 3 require some fancy video card, which I doubt).

My computer's pretty quiet, too. The case has a 25cm Fan on one side (http://static.pcinpact.com/images/bd/news/54887-incognito-point-of-view-turbine-allulite-boitier.jpg) and inside I have a 14cm Evercool Red Scorpion working on 7v just above the northbridge heatsink (the stupid chipset gets too hot even at 30% overclock. ). I bought a set of brackets for my HDDs and they really work great (almost the same as these, only for 2 HDDs http://www.com-tra.de/img/p/NB_Swing_standard.jpg). Now pretty much all I'm hearing is the Fortron PSU and that's bareable as I've put my computer on the ground, at least 50cm away from me.

My computer produces almost zero noise. I have this on my cpu

and this on my 8800GT

My PSU is from Corsair, a really really silent one, and I only have 1 case fan, set at really low, so it's pumping out like 600RPM of air out of the case.... And I'm really really picky about noise... Before I did this it sounded like a washing machine... now you don't hear anything... :)

Ah, glad I'm not the only one who hates noisy PCs. Normal people don't even notice a noisy PC unless the fan is really bust and sounds like a jet.

BTW, I really recommend getting of the HDD decouplers. You can get this one or the older ones (which I have) http://www.noiseblocker.de/en/produkt_entkoppler_nb-xswing.php for about 10 euro and besides being less noisy your hdds will be more safe from vibrations and maybe even cooler. Guess that sounds like an advertisment but honestly I think they are worth it.

Shadow, I have the Antec P182 case and the HDD mounts have something similar, I honestly barely hear my HDD... and there is no noise from the PC at all lol... only when doing heavy file transfer and stuff I can hear it just a little... but overall my whole PC sounds like.. nothing

That's great. I plan on buying one of these new silent Corsair PSU but I have so many other things to buy and the fortron really isn't horrible. I'm glad I bought a nice case, because you only need to do so once :)
