Come on I mean, if you are trully a prog power metal fan you have to like and know all of this groups.. come on what is wrong with some people saying that rage sucks, or circle II circle, or that they never heard of pagan's mind??? what the hell is that.. I think you should better save your money and stay at home, and let the ones like us.. who like all of these bands and at least had heard of them, enjoy the show.. do us a favor and don't go if you are going to leave or are not going to have respect for any of the bands... That's why all the best concerts are in Europe.. the groups know that we are very few real METAL FANS.. this is a no-metal country sadly.. oh well, at least Glenn is doing a great job in making us happy with this progpower festival!!!

hey, everyone isn't going to like all bands and why should someone who doesn't know who a band stay at home. I am only super familiar as of the announcement of the lineup with 3 of the bands. Granted, I have to do alot of homework but it won't keep me from going and enjoying myself.

I think I am more sick of the threads complaining about people complaining about the bands than I am the threads complaining about the bands <checks to see if that made sense>.

Anyways...yeah. I was also only super familier with a few of the bands. And am happy to do the homework as in the process I find about 5 or 6 bands that I really like that I would otherwise never know.

I think I'm every bit entitled to not like every single band that's placed in front of me. I love Nightwish, I like Rage, and Mercenary sounds good. Other than that, I'm tired of Symphony X and Evergrey. And I couldn't give a rat's ass about the other bands. Doesn't make me less metal or less of a fan.

hehe that's the spirit!!!
Ok that is great, but please if you go, show respect for the bands you don't like!!!!!! And stop complaining about how bad certain band is, or whatever because seriously... Is there really any bad one??? Maybe as woosta said, you can get tired of a band, but that doesn't mean is bad.... and about some people not knowing some bands.. well yes maybe I exxagerated, hehe, because there are so many bands that is imposible to know them all.. But in the case of Pagan's mind... great band, and a lot of people don't know it.. well.. that's why Glenn gives people time to get to know the bands before the show!!!! anyway, I can't wait for it to be september XD

Hey All
Let's face it. One of the only true "pipelines" of hearing about new cutting edge metal is the internet. Another is whats left of metal mags. As far as corporate radio and MTV that would turn more people onto the most under-rated music out there, well it won't happen. There are true metal fans out there who may have lost faith. They may not have access to internet, or are clueless of the TRUE METAL REVOLUTION that is happening right under there eyes. I have always loved turning people onto metal. Their reaction is priceless! So let us not put down our fellow metal heads just because they are a little in the dark, Let us show them the Light of the TRUE METAL REVOLUTION. :headbang:

So far, the only two bands I have seen at ProgPower that completely suck ass are Nightingale and Devin Townsend. All the other bands, even if I don't love their music, played great and were fun to see.

I think devin townsend is METAL!! :) but we all have our own opinions. I will go to enjoy all the bands and if something isn't my cup of tea, I will just stay quiet and let the true fans enjoy them.

I do agree about turning people onto great metal that they might not have heard of. I make tons of compilation cds for people and they come back saying they liked this band or that band or the whole cd. It makes my day to see their excitement.

Hey Iv only been into metal for 3 years! give me a break! I havent heard of most of these bands, but Im going to sooner or later. Its all about being openminded and experiencing new music. :headbang: The other day I got my second taste of evergrey. A band that I have heard of for a while but never bothered to really listen to. My first experience of them was horrible and I didnt favor them for quite a while, but my friend let me listened to an awesome song and now Im reconsidering checking them out a little more.

Well any ways, I am sick of people complaining about certain bands. :Shedevil: They do have a right to their opinion and free speech. But repeatedly saying it gets old and annoying. If you are complaining that much..then dont go I say. Its not worth making a big fuss over it and then have to fight with other people that do like those bands. But I take unwanted opinions very lightly any way and everyone should try to do that too. Its not worth getting angry over some one else's opinion. I mean it is their right after all and if they dont like them, thats their choice ya know? We don't need anymore wars than what is already going on out there!! :p

true icedragon... anyway, as haunted eclipse said.. we should show the light of true metal to those who are still learning about this.. I mean I know I don't know all bands.. but the truth is.. there is not a single progressive metal, power metal, death metal, or trah metal band I don't like.. the bad metal is the nu-metal.. I don't really know if any of those bands have any talent at all.. but I know for sure they are trying to create something "new" but what the have created is something without any melodic sense at all.

I never heard much of the nu metal stuff. Personally I dont really know any bands from that category. But Im always willing to learn about a band I never heard of. :D Even if I already dont like them, because I know there will always be good albums and not so great albums. And sometimes a person just encounters the wrong one. :p

what if you have heard of the bands, but jsut arent into the ultra proggy bands?

or in the case of mercenary can not stadn the vocals.

i see it quite easy to not like alot of the bands on the bill. I really only like 4 of them myself. Like i said becasue i am not into the super proggy bands

Oh those bands..:err:....ok...now I know what you are talking about. They are crap. LOL. I guess some people like them....but they make me hate a lot of radio music and American music in general. American main stream music is always about what's popular and who's the best looking; rarely about talent alone. At least that is how I see it, although you do get some actual real talent squeezed in there sometimes. Yet bands that arent that great looking get passed over just becuase they either arent gorgeous or complete freaks..:saint:...and the perception that metal is 'evil'...really puts a hurting on a lot of good bands that play awesome and beautiful music.

Its just all about making money now...how sad. :yuk: They are willing to shove all the garbage down everyone's throats, pass it off as magnificent and "genius" and the masses buy them like mindless robots.:D Don't get me wrong, there are still very creative works out there that play all kinds of music now as "popular music," just not really much. Usually the best music is always hidden some where behind all the popular ones.

I made a cd for this dude at work the other day with these bands, in this order

Silent Force, Blind Guardian, Gamma Ray, Metalium, Star One, Sonata Arctica, Opeth, Opeth, Zero Hour, Evergrey, Iced Earth, Orange Goblin, Spirit Caravan, Trouble, The Obsessed, and Lord Weird Slough Feg.

He's never heard of any of them and claims to be a fan of Metal. I hope he likes even one of those bands. If he's lucky he'll like more and maybe get turned onto some other cool stuff.
