For the gun lovers....

My father had a license for all sorts of guns. So I actually grew up surrounded by guns and went on a range with him couple of times when I was a child. :)

I wont start flaming. I just don't get it.

Until you actually start shooting and collecting, I wouldn't expect you to understand... I never liked guns or anything until I joined the military. Going to a range is some of the most fun you can ever have....

hopefully you wont ever have to "get it". because if you ever do have to, because it could be too late for you at that point.

you choose not to shoot for sport, or own a gun for protection. that's your right, and i'm sure everyone here respects your choice. also i think you live under stricter laws against private ownership. But It is our right to own them, for both purposes. accept it. deal.

the end.

Man I went to the range once with my friend Thomas who is an avid collector/gunsmith when he had just acquired an old Mauser that took the 7.62 or whatever. He insisted I take my .22 Ruger as well for kicks. We busted out the .22 first, of course the guys on the line with M4's and 30-06's are kinda giggling and shit because theirs go boom and mine goes plink like a bb gun.

Then we get the Mauser out. BOOM. They didn't giggle after that, we actually had 4 or 5 guys come up and ask about it. My friend also took the time to jewel the receiver and bolt and whatnot with a Dremel...not an easy task if you know what I mean.

It had a metal butt-end on it as well, which after the 300 rounds we each unloaded with it left a bruise and sore ass shoulder for over a week. Hurt like hell but man that was a good day.

Mausers rule! :)

I shot my first one a couple weeks back at the range. A guy had an authentic German K98. Man did that thing kick! Not too bad, but definitely more noticable than the Saiga. Shooting my Saiga afterwords felt like a toy.

It's funny, I once brought a petite female friend to the range. She brought her father's Ruger 22 long rifle. We shot the Saiga, then the Ruger. It was her first time shooting a 7.62. I could barely hear the plink of the 22 with my muffs on ! Haha.

Yeah, I'd imagine firing a full-auto gun would be a truly unique experience - that said, I really don't feel people should be allowed to own them unless there are ABSURD background checks, which seems to be the case! Kinda feel the same way about a 15-round limit on mags, just the more it separates them from genuine assault weapons the better IMO

That sounds like you are in a disagreement with freedom.

Freedom is being able to do whatever you want to, so long as you don't infringe on another individuals freedom.

People who think certain things shouldn't be "allowed", such as full auto guns or gay marriage or whatever, are people who are, in my eyes, anti-freedom...

If I ever make it out to Arizona, Utah, Nevada, I am most definitely going to rent and shoot a full auto AK-47. I must!

So by that same logic, people should have the freedom to shit on each others faces in public? One of the marks of society is submitting to laws that exist for the benefit of order, and I feel limiting the potential of people to have assault weapons is something worthy of restricting

I agree, but the lethality of assault rifles isn't due directly because of their magazine capacity. If I fire an AK with a 15 round mag, it's just as deadly. Yeah, having the 15 rounds might save one or two people if some maniac goes postal, but it just seems like retarded logic on the part of lawmakers to me.

Oh and here where they limit mag capacity to 15 rounds, it specifically states for semi-autos. :goggly:

Actually, no.

Shitting on someone elses face in public would not be freedom, because even if the person wanted you to shit on their face, you would be infringing on the passers-by freedoms to not have to be subjected to that...

like i said, Freedom is being able to do anything you want, without infringing on someone else's freedom... me thinks you're not understanding the concept...

Example:

So what if i own a fully automatic .90 caliber anti-everything gun, that would be my right... my freedom... but for you to say, "You shouldn't be able to own it" is stating that you wish to infringe on my freedom...

There is true freedom, as in what I believe and there is the contrived, fake freedom that the majority of people believe... the true meaning of freedom has pretty much been lost and that is a shame...

So, my point is that if I want to protect myself, my freedom, I should be able to do so with whatever I want... be it a .90 caliber anti-everything gun or a BB gun, I should have the right to choose... because owning the gun itself isn't infringing on anyone else's freedom... but should I choose to use it on someone, the rules change because, personally, I would only use it for self defense...

All these laws limiting ammunition capacity and types of guns is just leading to a complete disarmament... and historically speaking, such events lead to a totalitarian regime overthrowing the people and because of said "laws", we no longer will have the ability to fight back.

No, I understand - but potentially, assault weapons could very easily be used to infringe on the rights of many people, specifically their right to live. And I don't think it's particularly retarded logic Joe; it may be unlikely, but it'd still potentially save lives!

Yeah, I suppose you could be right in regards to full autos bro, but in regards to limiting mag capacity for semi-autos it just seems like a stretch to me.

"Potentially" is such a big word...

So, then it should be illegal to purchase certain household items that, when combined, make a bomb... and while we're at it, hell lets make water illegal as well, cause you could potentially drown someone...

I just see all this as fear... if you live your life in fear of what could happen, you'll never live your life...

It's a double-edged sword and it won't change any time soon. In my opinion the people bitching about gun control need to give it a rest and just shoot back. It's simple. Or just worry about not getting shot by some gangbanger trying to get initiated or some meth'ed out trailer park douchebag who needs your car to make it to his next score because they can get a gun just as easily as they can.

The background checks and shit do not work 100%, none of the "control" in place works 100%. Anybody that wants a gun can get one, legally or illegally. No matter what there will always be an illegal market, which I've seen in action myself - pretty intense.

So true.... FYI when I was buying my pistol, there was a group of 7 African Americans in front of me, all buying pistols also. I don't want to stereotype, but lets just say they all had the same jacket on and looked like they were gang members... Anyway, this was a 'real' dealer, so he calls in every buyer to do a check. Each one of them got flagged by the FBI and the dealer wouldn't sell to them. They walked ten feet down to another stand, which was a private seller, and they all bought their guns.

So my point here is-
Buyer checks work, but only if you actually do them.....

Welllllll when my uncle bought an AK-47 a a few handguns at once from a "real" dealer he did a check too, but they didn't find any of the psych history. So he was able to kill his wife, a couple of her co-workers (and injure a handful more) and then kill himself at her workplace when he went nuts for the last time. But that doesn't happen all the time (no sarcasm) so I agree that when a dealer does the check like they are suppose to it helps. But case in point that you showed thurrrr.

Holy fuck Mike, that's nuts...

And honestly, about this notion people have been bringing up of fighting back against a totalitarian regime and such - am I the only one to whom that sounds like some slightly nuts backwoods militiaman talk? I mean, when in the history of the US has that ever had to happen? You seriously believe that people should have guns so they can march onto capitol hill and riddle "the man" full of bullets if he cracks down on us?

And to be clear, I'm only advocating control of assault weapons, not all guns
