Someone told me a funny story at the table afterward - he said they were keeping track of the time listed for us to start and a bunch of people got themselves front and center when we were sposed to go on....when out prances another dancer! He said he never saw a group of people move so fast together - right to the back!
It was quite a circus!!
But a total riot!!!!
It was a very interesting and totally fun crowd for sure! Before the dancing started, I thought it unusual such an eclectic crowd was gathering for a metal show. There were a couple middle-aged drag queens, school girls with skirts and lunchboxes, an otherwise cute girl dressed as an old lady, several big-haired gals right out of a John Waters flick, and lots of boys. I used to call that Tuesday night at my neighbors when I lived in West Hollywood, but not the usual turnout for a Denver rock crowd. Then it all made sense when the MC started pouring gallons of milk over a chiseled dancer going by Lambchop or something. Yes, there were a few guys backpedaling through the crowd and retreating to the tables wearing stunned expressions! Classic! DJ Magic Cyclops summed it up best when, immediately after the review, he said, There was sooooo much meat up there, that
I am now a vegetarian!
Im glad to say our metalhead brothers and sisters all mingled nicely with our new friends and, from both camps, there was a great energy from the crowd. Honestly, even though the Maidens were headlining, we were all guests in
their house as that is the club scene on Broadway in Denver, and I thought our host crowd was very welcoming to a swarm of black t-shirts and bad hair!
And then the band broke into Aces High and the crowd totally switched, leaving an (albeit small) mob of screaming and fist-raising rivetheads!
To echo MaidenColorado, there are some great hard rock clubs here including Iliff Park. Im certain youll see several times the turnout at your very next show, and then upwards from there. Cant wait for the next time!!
