I'm moving into San Francisco proper on the 23rd of September (to shorten my commute), but for now I live in Palo Alto....about 25 miles out of the city. This happens to be within five miles or so of Shoreline Ampitheatre.....and even though there are tons of noise ordinances and rules about that place....every so often I walk out in my front yard and hear, faintly but clearly, some band I know.
Once I was walking out to my car when heard what I thought was a loud car stereo....I zoned in on it, and thought, "hey, that's guy's listening to Black Sabbath (the song)" I did a quick double take, then realized, "Wait a minute, that IS Black Sabbath." This would be Ozzfest of two years ago (I went last year to see Maiden and Sab - Thanks Kitty!)
Anyhoo, tonight I was walking outside when I heard something again....took me a minute....but then I knew it was familiar. Just loud enough to hear......"All I want is a photograph....." So, ha, Def Leppard. They actually sounded pretty good, seriously, though frankly I gave up on them after Pyromania (like most everyone else....well, not everyone...that next record sold like hotcakes).
Anyway, funny is all. I listened for a minute....but gave it up. I only ever hear the "hits," since generally speaking that is the encore, and it's an old soundboard-guy trick to crank it up a bit for the encore.
They were playing with Journey, but with the fake Steve Perry of course. Couldn't care less in a way, but hey, free music.
