Ok so i made the plunge today and decided to move to Reaper. I am having some issues and cant figure out what the deal is.

1. Reaper only sees my Saffire and only gives me 8 inputs. I went into the audio settings in reaper and it only allows me to set channels 1 - 8 as input channels. I cant for the life of me figure out how to get all 16 channels. 8 off of my Saffire and 8 off my ada8000. Same goes for output, it only allows me 8. Sonar sees them all, so I am unsure how to get this going.

2. I was able to figure out things like routing to specific outputs, but I dont see a way to get my FX inserts on screen in the mixer like in Cakewalk. This is a feature I really love as I can see quickly at a glance where all my plugins are and toggle them on with a single mouse click.

Anyone interested in helping a n00b to Reaper get this thing to a comfortable level. I have no quams throwing someone some cash to do it either.

Thanks

did you ask on the Reaper forum?

Its got to be the most helpful forum in the world. I've had a few goes at getting into Reaper, but I struggle with the way the plugins are set out too. I've asked a few Q's on the forum before and there's always someone who really knows there shit to help you out..

1-no idea, sorry

2-are you talking about being able to view things like the screenshot on reaper.fm 's homepage? if that is what you are talking about you just have to enlarge the mixer window. if it is docked, just get the double arrow cursor by hovering it by the transport and drag the window larger

Your audio setup should be something like this:

All 26 i/o is available for my Profire but I only have the first 10 enabled. Try selecting no device, then back to the saffire.

glad to help :) just testing the waters with reaper now actually. been trying it on and off since v2.x and like a lot of things about it. similarly to you, i am used to another daw (cubase 5) so a little strange but i have some big hopes for r4 :) if a few of the needs are met, i am done with cubase and full on with reaper
