I just thought on sharing my experince at the Culture room last nite at the show.

First Devildriver, I don't respect this band and I didn't care for them but I think they put up a good show and there was a lot of energy while they played, the moshpit was cool as well. there was this chunky kid who got on stage and they took a picture of him and then he throw himself to the crowd to do some crowdsurfing but instead of trying to "dive" he let himself to fall, ovbiously everybody took a step back, and he went directly to the floor. hahaha, I couldn't stop laughting, altought he kicked me in the face when he was falling.

Moonspell, my biggest deception of the night, there was this guy who came out to set up the drums and shit, something in my told me that he didn't look like a normal roadie, the guy setting the keyboard and the guitar looked like a normal technician, but my biggest surprice was when the roadies started to take place in the drum and the guitar, they started to play I was like WTF  and they were the same band members, the drummer looked like Jack Sparrow from pirates of the caribbean, the singer had a shirt with a skeleton in the front and behind he had printed " I am one of you" like if he was the big shit and tried to be humble. He turned back and drank waster and spat it all over us, everybody was dissgusted. The only song I could really enjoy was Opium. But they were cool enought to give away bottles of water (wich is a good thing since each bottle is like 5 bucks).

After a long Wait Michael and the members came out, everybody went nuts, they had such elegance and such a charisma around them that made me like they were worth supporting. They played the set list previously mencioned, the crowd had more response for the Moor, But when Michael said that he was going back in time to the album My arms, your hearse, I knew 'twas APRIL FUCKING ETHEREAL and I went Insane, the forest folded its branches around me. Something passed by, and I went into a dream.
I laughing and weeping at once: "take me away"...
I didn't like Black water park that much because of that big ass gap at the begginig, altought it was a moment of like "cooling down" it was too long, I enjoyed the mellow songs as well, Opeth had a good response of windowpane, but in my time of need didn't get the attencion it deserves.
By the time they played Demon of the fall, I had no voice at all

I was in the front and the people around me were fucking awesome, there was this dude in my right singing with me the whole time, and there was this couple in my left that were like really into opeth too. They all were awesome.

:headbang: No words can describe it, but I tried to get as close as I could.

The crowd was unbelievable. I've never seen people react to a band like that at the culture room, and i've been there hundreds of times. It was definately an experience. I dont understand why they wouldn't play just one request though. Everyone(including me) was chanting for Orchid. Ah..maybe next time. Although a lot of my night was pretty much ruined from the get go, Opeth definately gave me a good 2 hours of the best music ever played. It was awesome talking to Peter Lindgren afterwards, he was a hell of a cool guy. I didn't stay long enough to see if the others were going to come out though....

Everytime i read your signature, I get chills, and I dont just read it, I sing silently to myself... Might be my favorite opeth line of all time.. and DOTF is right up there in the top 3 best opeth songs..

hehe yeah it's up there in the top 3 favorite parts of all Opeth songs

Awesome, but huh, you didn't like Moonspell? I thought they fucking rocked in tampa.

Alright....here is my full review.....I'll make it short.
I will use a 10 scale. 1 being "I would rather see Linkin Park" and 10 being "This is the greatest thing ever".....you get it.

The line is ridiculously long......I was a little pissed....then the ticket dude shouted, "If anyone already has tickets, come to the front of the line". I sprinted to the front and got the most perfect spot inside.

So DevilDriver is about to start. About an hour late too. The singer I hear is also the singer of Coal Chamber (I don't listen to them). Now I might have heard like 1 or 2 DevilDriver songs, but nothing I could really recognize. The singer chugged a bottle of wine before going on and then they started going crazy. I would say they are a hardcore-type band, but really boring at times because its the same s**** over and over....The riffage was ok, the singer had good energy....in between one song, the crowd started to chant "We Want Kataklysm" because they were supposed to open for Opeth instead of DevilDriver. Obviously the singer got mad, so he said some unintelligible stuff into the mic, and the drummer took his bottle of water and threw it at some kids face. Overall, I would give them a 4.5 out of 10.

Moonspell comes on. They are a Portuguese band, and their sound was really different. Definitely better than DevilDriver. I liked them. The singer was a "showman" and he wanted to get the crowd really hyped. It was their first time there, so there were a good amount of fans. They had a keyboardist who also played guitar, but I hated that he looked like a pretty boy and started moving his hips to the beat in one song. Funny part was, the singer went offstage for a second to get water, and there is a guitar solo going on, and he sprays some water from his mouth on his guitarist, and the guitarist looks back and gives him this dirty look. The drummer wore eyeliner and he looked like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean exept this guy was more like Dimebag Darrel in stature. They didn't have any techs, they set up everything themselves. The coolest thing though, was on the last song...the singer had a set of drumsticks also and hit the cymbals for the song at the end as the drummer also did his thing. It sounded really great and looked good on stage. I think I got one picture of them. Overall I would give them a (6.5/10)

Alright....time for Opeth. I was excited beyond belief. They come out to their traditional pre-show music for this tour (like on Lamentations DVD). They came out with Masters Apprentice. Amazing way to start the show. I was fuc king banging my head all throughout the show. Next came The Drapery Falls. Right on. Perfect playing! They didn't mess up once that night (that I could hear) and I always listen for that. I took video of Masters Apprentice, Drapery Falls, Blackwater Park, Windowpane, and a couple others...I have several solo's recorded. Martin Lopez looked really mellowed out, but he got into it. I was really close to him because he was on a platform and I was in the balcony of the place avoiding the pit. He looked at me a couple times because I was one of the few rocking out to every song up there. He didn't go all out like he does on some shows, but he was impressive as always. Mikael's voice was on the whole night. Peter is starting to grow a little beard. He looks more metal, heh.....The guys shredded last night. They played the shhit out of those solo's. When they played the Moor, I was thinking "this is unbelievable!" I'm so pleased that they decided to play this song that, as Mikael said "We have never played this song on tour" until now... The energy they put out was everything I expected. I'm running out of words to express how I felt...hah.....I got some great pictures that I will post up. And video for anyone who wants to see. Overall, they obviously get a 10/10.

I was at the show as well, Opeth owned that place, I cannot beleive how many people showed up, I've never seen the culture that full! and It was quite a diverse crowd as well, not just metalheads, but goths (wtf?), the usual hardcore dipshits in the moshpit and I was surprised to see some 'emo' kids there as well. I never knew that all these 'types' of people liked Opeth, always thought just us Metal heads knew of them. well anyways, thats all good and all.
Opeth was great as well was Moonspell, unfortunaltly Opeth wont be coming back any time soon :erk: hopeful Moonspell will, Ive been a fan of them for quite some time and I think the crowd really dug them and accepted them well for it being thier first time here. devildriver sucked, I was one of those people yelling out "Kataklysm" (who were supposed to be on this tour! :yell: )during thier set, hehe...just not my cup of tea.
It's too bad opeth doesn't "Take Request" because I and many around kept yelling out songs for them to play like "Under a Weaping Moon!" "White Cluster!" and "Forest Of October"...but to no avail, they did not play these songs. i realize they plan the setlist in advanced, but I really wish they would have played something off Orchid or Morningrise.
the crowd was insane during the heavier songs, I was upfront the whole time and I wasnt able to stay in the same spot very long except when they mellowed out. people calmed down towards the end of the set.

overall, it was one of the best concerts ive been to in a while. :D

Holy crap, if was a fucking awesome show. The last lines to Demon of the Fall always had me before. But after hearing it live, after seeing them walk back out... it was so awesome. There was a guy in front of me Mikael came out and said that they wouldn't be back for a while because they would take a break and might record a new album. And the guy yells "Two albums!" and Mikael responds: "No, not two albums... Maybe 5 or 6..." and then he laughed. It was so awesome.

I agree. If i was to say the show they played made me anything less then Ecstatic, I would be full of shit. The last 4 songs, I got to sit on stage...Yes, on stage. About 4 feet from Mikeal And the front of the drums. Martin's gf or wife? i think was sitting there next to us, and seemed really happy that me and my 2 buddies were so excited to be so close. My Buddy scored both a drum stick and a bass pick.

Hey, do you guys remember when somebody started to yell for some old songs and then Lopez started with the drums of Nectar, and everybody was getting all ecstatic and shit, and then Peter starts playing the guitar following the drumming of the song, and then Mikael gives him a dirty look (like saying "what the fuck are you doing) and Peter looks back at him and he gives him his innocent-whith-a-shy-smile "I'm so sorry" face, hahahah that was hilarious.

@ LIAMANTE: hey were you the guy with a chick yelling "In the mist she was standing"???

@rest of the people: how did you guys looked like (what kind of shirt, black hair of blonde, lenses, any accesories??)

Yeah, with the two short girls? Yeah, I had on a flanel shirt over my opeth and i'm bald. Are any of you one of the people who hit off my doob? Yeah, I was about to go off my rocker, when they started to play Nectar. Bummer, total fucking bummer. Oh well, hopefully next time, but probably not, because they'll be playing all the new shit next time. Whatever, Lindgren was awesome. Got him to sign a shirt i got for my girlfriend, and he tried to get some of the other guys to come out and chill...Anyone know if they ever came out?

I was wearing an Amorphis Tuonela shirt, black jeans. Skinny guy, short brown hair. Went with my girlfriend who was wearing a Samael shirt, as well as her brother who was wearing an Opeth shirt. We just sorta chilled in the very back.
