Fuck it, I think I'm just getting a Honda

lurch left out a HUGE FUCKING DETAIL: that list of cars is for cars who "changed the game" in the 20 years Automobile Magazine has been published. In other words, from 1986-2006.

 ... i copy/pasted that whole thing from another site

if I wasn't so stupidly busy for the next few days i'd be tempted to photoshop your face onto that annoying little shits body... but well... that'd be rather cold.

i dont know why everybody's so down on teh hondas. we are thinking of getting a new car (and driving it for 20+ years) and an accord seems to be the best value. we were thinking of a volvo s40 but they cost at least $5000 more than a comparably equipped (and certainly more reliable) accord.
camry is the only other car i can think of around $20k but we have one and theyre pretty boring (read: soft handling is downright dangerous)...

any ideas?

accord LX special edition can be had for $20k according to edmunds.com.

the MSRP for the value package (what used to be the DX) is something like $18,500.

im pretty sure you can get a camry LE for around $20k or less.

perhaps cars in your area carry a premium or something.

last year, a local honda dealer was selling civic LX coupes for $13k.

yeah, LX has pretty much everything you need. special edition comes with alloy wheels and 6 disc changer or something like that.
options schmoptions i dont really need anything extra

haha seriously
i had to go back and read it a couple times to make sure
i threw the option thing in there so we'd have something to argue about.

haha, seriously. i think of cars in terms of, "how easy will it be to yank a car seat out of the back? how much of our shit can i stuff in the trunk?"

the miata has become completely useless to me now. aside from being a detriment to my own safety, and thus my son's livelihood, it has zero cargo capacity and seats TWO. ha

fwiw, i lost interest in the "romantic" notion of cars a couple years ago, when i realized how big a percentange of my income went to something as stupid as personal transportation. that and the fact that i've almost killed several people driving like a jackass on public streets in my sports car.

heh. Take out the car seat bit and put in "how cheap can I get it for/keep it running for" and thats my stance.
seconded. amend it to say, "how low is the cost per mile of this vehicle?" and you have my personal stance.
