Just got back from the Orlando show. The band was good...

So I get there 3.5 hours before doors because I always want to be at the barracade for Anthrax and I'm patient. After hanging at the beginning of the line for 2 hours I'm informed that I have to spend 20 bucks in the HOB store or restaurant and show them the receipt if I want to stay in this line. Otherwise I had to go behind the venue and wait with the others while everyone who pays money goes in. THEN he says if I just give him 15 bucks cash then I could stay where I was. Whaaat?! You now have to pay or be sent to the back of the line!! I was the first one there and ended up about 200th in line because I wouldn't hand the security cash!

Oh it gets better...

So I'm at the beginning of the line of non-payers which is obviously the majority of the crowd. We finally get escorted BACK to the front of the venue where we are now allowed to finally go in. So I lost my barracade spot of course and at 5'6" I can never see over anyone and had to spend the whole show with my hands at my sides and couldn't get into it at all. Two months of anticipation down the drain. Death Angel starts shortly after I get in...there are still hundreds of people in line that were sent to the back who are now missing the first band, many of whom were there hours before the doors opened! All because they wouldn't fork over cash! Fuck that place I hope it burns to the fucking ground.

No it is actually the HOB's program. The $15 buys you a "pass the line" pass. So if you don't buy it or spend $20 at their store you're fucked no matter how early you get there. Unbelievable.

Yeah I'm pissed too for bro. I'd report that shit on Yelp, and as many different better business bureau types out there you can find. That is pretty fucking outrageous.

I'm not too crazy about the place where Anthrax is playing in Silver Spring. I saw Phish there a month ago. It just seems so far from where I live. It's all corporate. We'll see how they fare with the metal head crowd.

I'm thinking of going to the Charlotte NC show.

I've seen dozens of shows at the HOB and never has anything like this happened before. It's clearly their way of just getting more money, just like at Universal Studios here you pay to get in then pay more inside to wait in shorter lines. This is the same venue that banned Machinehead from playing there a year ago because they weren't considered appropriate...ONE WEEK before the show! Also we had security in the pit tonight stopping people from moshing, Scott had fun with that one. What a dump the HOB has turned into.

Not saying you did the wrong thing by standing your ground and doing what's right.... or not doing what's wrong, but I would have (reluctantly) paid the $15.
It fuckin' sucks that they are starting shit like this!

At 5'6 you can still have a great time at a concert. I never understood what is so amazing about being squished up against the barricade for an entire show. Go in the pit, go upstairs, move around have a good time, no need to let it ruin your entire time.

I wouldn't want to be up against the barricade even if it was completely free and I was escorted there. But hey to each their own.

I think its more BS that there are 200 people in line while Death Angel is on stage. If I was in that band I would be really pissed off!!

This is my first time having it happen there but it's been a while since my last show there. I guess I should've just had dinner at the restaurant, hell an appetizer and a soda alone there would make the $20 minimum:lol:

Hey Sufferer, I just got back from Florida. Universal and Disney. In Disney you can fast track only one ride at a time for no charge. But Universal wanted extra money for the process.

Plus their whole Halloween night thing...closing the park early, charging extra for the tickets then opening the park up again. No way !

I took the family to Old Town Kissimmee instead and trick or treated there. What a neat little spot. We had a great time.

The parks are a rip-off unless you have a season pass which covers parking and unlimited admission for a year. Old Town is very cool, lots of fun and free!
